Actually Hotham is a way better mountain than Thredbo or Perisher is you really have no idea what you are talking about.

Aren't the terrain parks better at Perisher

Terrain parks are better at Perisher, however any time of the week they are just packed to the brim. The park crew is awesome but with conditions and wear and tear the park does get worn each day.

In terms of overall mountain, Thredbo has some absolutely awesome terrain. I prefer it a lot more than perisher, and it’s a lot more logical to move around the mountain.

Ah ye fair enough, so for overall skiing Thredbo would be the better way to go

I'll admit I'd ski falls over perisher anyday, it was just a bit of state v state banter

100% it’s better. Honestly, if you don’t have an EPIC pass, choose Thredbo. Because of the convenience of the pass and relative cost for locals, everyone gets it and perisher mountain just gets so packed.

it's also the most crowded mountain in Australia

*If you don't know where to go at certain times.

Generally the entire crowd at Perisher gets funnelled into different places at the same time every day.

Yo homie, I have an epic pass, but I'm a melbourne boy so I'll be trying to swing some trips out to Buller too. I only started riding park a few years ago but I'm trying to learn so I'm keen as to do it as much as possible, none of my local mates really ride it.

Yo kiddos, after some advice.

Have hit falls last 2 years, copped hella bad conditions both times (a week after each trip falls got hella dumps, while a week earlier I'm sitting on the lift soaking wet with rain pissing down hahaha gnarly but some snow would be nice). Hopefully got some mad dumps this winter coming though.

Probably gonna head down from brissie to ski for a real short trip (3 days or something) and not sure whether to hit falls again because I know the mountain well now or try nsw. I feel like for a 3 day trip falls might be better because I know it (save time figuring out the logistics of getting around the place etc), but any advice regarding threddy or perro?

cheers

Any reason in particular, don't they have much snowmaking or something.

Leaving the trip booking to last minute this year hahaha so I'm gonna wait for the dumps before booking anything. 3rd year of driving up to sights of grassy hills would get a bit old hahaha.

Half of Thredbo is grass unless theres a big low level dump

Thanks for the tip mang. I guess I was pretty surprised at how much area was ski-able at falls last year considering the conditions. Trees that I was skiing through were under a meter of snow a week later though hahhaha

mate i think i was up after the big dump and i was seriously having a blast

Anyone thinking of heading up to buller next week? Snow forecast is saying its getting a bit (1/2m+) of probably wet and heavy snow from now till sunday but I'm pretty keen to just have a ski and hike a rail or something. I was gonna head up tuesday for the student day pass ($64) but my mates have exams and I'd much rather go up with a crew.

ye sorry man, ive got exams on as well

Holy fuck the snow is good right now.

Perisher is filling in so well, mountain could be fully open if there was enough staff to man lifts.

But Falls and Hot Ham are looking even better, looks like something out of Japan in the pics i've seen.

Buller will cop it tonight aswell cos the wind is going SW. Looks like there was some famous Buller freezing rain at the beginning of this system.

Got told Buller park is going up tomorrow night so I guess I'm gonna bail on tomorrow but if I do I'm definitely going up this weekend instead.

Next year hopefully. Not sure where. Got a job at thedbo once to dig but will prolly just go anywhere down there that needs cat ops, especially in the park.

Im hoping I'll have fun doing summer things this year doing summer things but i need a southern hem winter again soon.

Also i need to used my work holiday visa next year.

Anybody on park crew at Perisher or any of the other hills?

Down to work anywhere but would be cool to work at Perisher since I'm already working for VR in the states. I figure Perisher is prolly a tough gig to get.

At the same time dif I end up at a different mtn id just rock it there for a few years rather than switch it up to tey and get in at Perisher.

I don't actually know but I imagine Rish is hard to get in the park crew, but if you have experience cat driving it surely wouldn't hurt. I worked at Thredbo last season and our park crew is pretty hard to get into too, they've got a good group of guys coming back every year and only hire if one of them doesn't I heard. Bunch of legends tho

Word that's kind of what I figured. I'll aply to multiple places if I decide to go for the visa, but perisher would be cool. Seems like a lot of the parks in Aus have been stepping up the last few years. Personally id kust be stoked for anywhere that does good work, with less drama, and getting on the hill for a few months.

If anyone is scumming the cheap student tickets at Buller tomorrow like me, come say hi. I'll probably be in the park on the black and white volkl walls and a black Rad hoodie or maroon t.

Also sunday or monday could be sneaky good I'm thinking of heading up and I've got an AWD + chains if anyone needs a ride.

I'm heading up to hotham this weekend so I guess I'll report back on the park ayy. Park looks sick, hoping its not an exposed ice pit. Bonus marks: I'll be the idiot buttering around with some walls on.

i’ll be the idiot with 1 or no poles trying not to re break my wrist hmu

If you wanna catch a lap or two hmu (:.

Buller park is pretty fun tho, I haven't had much trouble with getting snaked/waiting around too much. All the potato boarders just kind of let you go before them! Wish they had some more interesting rails or more/proper jump line but at least you can get a few hits in a row in.
