My summer construction job recently got fucked, and I got offered a job where Im headed for the summer at a pizza place. cooking pies, the occasional delivery, and working the til.

it pays ontario minimum; so $10.25, a typical shift would be 4 or 5 until close (around midnight) and it would be at least 5 days a week. this would suck that I wouldnt see my friends as they all get off their 9 to 5s then head out to the lake, but it would leave me lots of time in the day to relax, film, and work other odd jobs where I live.

One of my buddies told me not to take the job, but at this point im kinda fucked and need money, and the jobs getting handed to me. Ive done dishes at a shitty diner before with no dishwasher, so Ive definitely managed a shitty job, but idk.

thoughts?

thanks a lot

and what would a thread be without photos....

3 things.

1. why are you VTscratch working in Ontario?

2. why is a tranny delivering pizza?

3. a job is a job. I'm working a job I hate, but it's better than not working at all. Plus if the people are cool you could have some fun with them.

hahaha you guys try and find hot girls with pizza, fuck!!

im grew up in ontario, but moved to VT when I was 10. since I was 3 though ive spent my summers on the lake outside of thunder bay, ontario

thats what i was thinking... a job is a job, im most likely not going to be stoked on whatever job I get

I swept floors and did dishes at a mountain mikes last summer. It was shitty but most jobs are. All I did was clean and restock. They said they would test me but never did, half the staff were huge stoners

It's not bad for just a lame ass high school job, but to me it just feels like a massive waste of time and I always have to do stupid cleaning shit while other people dick around on their phones.

A job is a job at your age, but if you have a choice I would take it until you can find a better one. Food industry in general sucks huge dick.

i worked at poppa johns for a few months in high school. didnt suck really at all besides working late hours on friday and saturday nights. Everyone who worked there was pretty young so it was a pretty chill place. Also everyone smoked weed so we would always get high at work sometimes smoking in the large freezer in the shop.

anyways for 10.25 an hour i would def make fucking pizzas here in the states you are gettin 7.50 if you are flippin pies.

I worked at little Caesars last summer and at least there you had to do a lot of cleaning but it is not always busy unless it is around a meal time. I knew a lot if people that worked there which made it fun. It does pay though so I wouldn't really complain but I did get sick of pizza for like 5 months after.

I worked at Papa Gino's over the summer when I wasn't in class so I only delivered pizzas for half the summer. I was making $8 an hour and I made about $900 in tips alone

i deliver for a gourmet pizza shop, our pizzas are expensive and I live in a wealthy area so the tips are $$$$. the people I work with are chill too. Find a place where the food is expensive, deliver it, and rake in the tip$

Worked at domino's. Pretty fun job actually, especially if you are in a middle-class town that tips fairly well. I, unfortunately, was not in a good town. It got sketchy delivering to trailer homes out in the middle of no where at times though. The worst thing that happened was that I had my wallet stolen by an indian and at one point my buddy had a gun pulled on him but that was more because of the place we were delivering to, but other than that it was an awesome job. The only reason I quit is because I had to focus on my classes more and my boss didn't take me off the schedule.

It's also really nice walking away with 30-50 bucks in cash from tips every night.

^what I was going to post. Hospitality, by and large, sucks for most people. You get paid peanuts, work the worst hours and are faced with customers who are having a great time while you are slaving away in the heat. I lasted 2 weeks in a pizza joint before quitting. However, there were 2 girls who had been there since forever, but they had exactly the type of bend-over-backwards, patient, multi-tasking personality that many of these jobs require.

If you have no other options, by all means take the pizza job, but I think you'd be better off working in retail or even construction if you can find another job like that.

My 2 cents.

i worked at a pizza place when i was in high school. it was a shitty job at a shitty pizza place, and my boss ended up going to jail for sexual assualt. BUT, it was my first job within food service and i quickly realized it is an industry that is very easy to move up in. i eventually got out of restaurants/retail and started doing butcher and secondary processing work in a federally inspected meat plant. recently took a new job as a plant manager for 80k annually (not bad considering my degree is only partly related to food service). i was bottom of the chain about 3 years ago, making like 30k annually doing bitch work. i worked my ass off to move up quickly. i opted to take a lot of extra courses in microbio, pathology, haccp/fsis training etc. but it was well worth it. this salary will pay for my grad school as well as all my other living expenses for as long as i wish to continue doing it. eventually when i'm ready i'll give it up and pursue my dreams and such; but in the meantime working in food service is a good place to start a nest egg. not saying it's an easy job or easy industry. but it's not difficult to climb the ladder. as mentioned in another post it takes a certain personality to thrive in a restaurant or similar setting, but give it a shot. if it's horrible and you hate it, just grab a large pizza and peace out.
