i used to run track in high school. words of wisdom from a veteran...if you aren't really really, ridiculously fast, just quit. focus all that energy on working out and bulking up instead.

damn. my school has the number 2 cross country team in the nation and this kid can run the mile in barely over 4 minutes. that is fucking insane. here in los angeles, sometimes it takes us 35 minutes to go a mile.

a kid i used to run against here in ottawa all throughout high school up until last year just ran a the mile in 4:01.56 at the boston indoor games. his name is mike woods, and he goes to michigan u.

there's a good number of college kids who can break 4 in the mile. u michigan has like 3.

i dont care for track to much, but for cross i run in the 27's for 8k, hopefully next fall season i'll drop it under 27

no matter how hard you shake and dance, the last few drops go in the pants

i'm a football player... a lineman (i'm not fat) but when we have to do the 12 minute run in pads after games i go 2 miles...

theres a girl (actually she's more like a man) at my school who's mom was gonna be in the olympics and her practice times beat the actual gold metal time by whole seconds... but then she got pregnant... i think the girl at my school might go olypic, i dn her times though

i did track in high school, and was on a club team - 3000m and 1500m steeplechase. it was fun, but xcountry is SO much better. the thing with track is that it gets so competitive and then i just didn't have fun with it anymore.

i dont think any freshman has ran that fast of a time...i think the national record for a freshman is above 4:10....anyways...the fastest mile ran this year in the nation for hs is 4:12

no matter how hard you shake and dance, the last few drops go in the pants

i was in track in 7th grade for a little bit. i quit right after my coach put me in the 800. but my miles were usually like 7.00 flat. i never broke 6.55. i got that in like 6th grade i think.

i do distance, but I just started, even though I'm a junior. I have 6:11 mile and I was hurt and sick with bronchitis when I did it, so I can get donw to 5 40 soon. About 7 kids on my team broke 5.

Imagine the ns outcry if u(lateralis) were banned. There would be countless threads and petitions to bring u back, it would be like when treadway got banned from whistler. Someone would probably make and sell 'Free Lateralis' stickers and shit. -j

some kid from my school, named ahmed, used to get like 4.15. he got full scholarships and shit.

i, on the other hand, suck balls at running. if your doing track, and dont like running a lot, i suggest doing sprinting. ive done 5 seasons of long distance and this sprinting shit is so damn easy (only if you dont care about winning). instead of running like 6 miles a day, we run like 2.5

are you talking about said ahmed? that kid is really fast and runs for arkansas

I love track with a passion. I do the jumps and hurdles, but i am proud to say i was nationally ranked in the triple jump this winter for high school. Now most of you probaby dont know what triple jump is, but i dont really care. I jumped 44 feet 5 inches this winter in TJ. Also, this came after being the worst distance runner on my team freshmen year. I ran 5:47 mile and like 13:45 2 mile. Damn i sucked at the 2 mile

jibba jabba

5.47??! you dont suck. i ran like a 6.45 and lost to a retarded kid. hahahahahahahahaha. im not even fat or anything, just a lanky ass slow kid.

ahmed goes to providence, wrong somalian.

god, i hated track, i agree with who ever said if ur not that good just quite. thats what my cousin told me (except her and her siblings all go scholarships for some kind of sport into college). She said its no fun if your not good cause u put urself through the tourture and pain of practicing and racing... then u just loose anyways. yeah i took her advice a little to late. so after three seasons of track, i quit, cause i sucked. but my fastest mile time is 6 45,which is ok, but not good enough to be in a race or anything.

one good thing about music
is when it hits, you feel no pain...

i cant do long distance fast, i just die. i used to sprint a lot, and jump, but ive gotten far too lazy to do the practices, so now i only do javelin, which is fantastic

im not very good at distance but my 100m time is 12.50

When I ran sophmore year i got a 5:50 for the mile, it was a pretty shitty time though. Now that I'm a senior I could probably break 5:30, but I don't run track anymore.

4 mile run in 19 minutes. i ran at the provincial level when i was in high school, and usually placed among the top 10.

^ that's impressive for a chick. i can't say i've ever done the 800, but i ran the 400 a couple times in 52 for a relay race and wasn't even panting.

I can do 5 km in 20 mins. But i probably and do 1 km less than 10mins.

i don't want to come off shitty or anything...but there are some bs times posted in this thread...

no frosh in durango has run 4:07 for the mile...the fastest hs mile in the nation right now is a 4:12 flat (indoor) and the fastest 1600m is a 4:10.50 (indoor), both by laef barnes from WA.

2:08. is awfully fast for a girl's 800 considering that the fastest time this year for the girl's 8 is a 2:07.00 by heidi houle of UT...but if it's true, that's awesome.

i don't know how a 44'-45' TJ got nationally ranked when anything under 45' or 46' isn't going to cut it much...

(there are really too many posts to question...i'm not being an asshole but make sure you have the facts straight and that people aren't bullshitting you before boasting times for them)

and to those of you saying you suck and you're so slow...well at least you are or were running...more power to you.

You should check out this girl at our school. She's an incredible athelete and you will hear about her later on. As a freshman she broke 4 girl track records in one meet, and many more later on in the season. She also was choosen as the goalie for the all-state team for soccer this year as a sophmore. On the team she was the leading scorer also.

and there is no hs team from los angeles (santa clarita?) that finished the season with a #2 national ranking...the first cali team in the rankings is "ernie's army" and they finished 4th at NTN (nike team nationals)...

check www.dyestat.com and look on the elite if you really dont believe me. Sure I'm number 60 or so, but 60 in the nation as a junior isnt so bad if you ask me. The indoor cut off is 44 feet.

I did track when I was a soph. and junior in HS. I ran the 800, mile and 1200 when we had a distance medley. my best mile was 4:57 when I was a soph. got injured when I was a junior.

crm you lie there is no way you ran that fast as a 7th grader unless you got held back atleats a couple years. and any one who thinks they are fast running an 11 sec 100m is dumb to be competitive in varsity track you need to do close to 10 seconds.

I just ran a 53 today in the 400m.

And then i went to do long jump and jumped 20'.

Skateboarding sure helps to get that massive air time.

I have no form when i jump, i just run and jump like I'm doing a massive ollie and i just fly through the air.

WEEE I'm Special, I live Under the Bridge!!

C.J. i coached a seventh grader last spring to a 5:05 1600m...so crm's 5:09 could definitely be legitimate.

and skifree919, i didn't say i didn't believe you...just that i would be surprised if jumps in the mid-lower 44s made the list...and i'm surprised, i checked dyestat elite list and there are a couple 44' 5"s so if you're indeed one of those guys then congrats to you for making the cut, nice jump. with good training you could def make it out past 45' by the end of outdoor. and john dye is no joke, so you're right to feel good about making the elite cut, sorry if i came off shitty (it's the internet)

have a good spring outdoor season.

Mike Woods as Lanks stated, ran an Ontario record or 4:45 somethin last year at OFSAA. I ran an 11:10 in the 100 meters.

well, he ran the 1500m in 3:48 at ofsaa...and he ran the 3000 in 8:19.
