one day when i earn enough cash i'm goin heli skiing, i'm thinkin tusselquah. who has already been heli skiing? where did you go? what was you're experience like? what did they let you ski, what did they not?

and i don't wanna hear about that stupid ass place in whistler village cause that only take you on like 30 degree slopes. if you skied there then you're a fag, actually you're a rich fag.

i heard the moons got some pretty good steeps, gets cold there though i heard

Jesus Christ, nice shot!

I'm pretty sure they take you to the kind of shit you want to ski (after all it's costing you an arm and a leg you should at least get to go where you want) but if you don't believe me then look in the Freeze and Freeskier online archives, they've both done features on tons of places.

'It smells like Otto's Jacket!'

my friend and i were staying at the chat (i'm not kidding) for free, so we were fucking around in the village and we went in there. they told us the don't take people on steep shit cause its too dangerous.

the white n word

my dads been heli skiing out west when he was in his 20's.

i dont talk to him too much about it cause it makes me shit my pants and want to go more then ever.

but i know when we do talk about it he almost starts crying, so it musta been good.

I've been twice. It can pretty sick if the weather cooperates, but also shitty if the weather or snow pack is bad so you just have to take your chaces. You can get soem really nice steep long runs in though. I didn't have to pay, and I wouldn't pay to go unless I was really rich and didn't get to go for free.

a conversation between two skiers:

skier 1 ' have you seen those new skis with the tips in the front and back yet'

skier 2 'no but I heard about those things'

Skier 1 ' yeah I don't see why they would want tips in the back...maybe they are try'n to copy those stupid snowboarders or something like that'

skier 2 'Yeah seems like kind of a stupid idea.'

i went once back in the day with north cascade, it was sick, not too steep though.

We went to Bella Coola and skied with BCHS, they were out of this world, steeps, couloirs, pow, it was super sick. Were were dropped in an A-star b2 and we skied almost 100 000 vertical feet in the 7 days. It looked like pictures from Alaska. It's like 400 km North of Van, they fly you from Van to Bella Coola and back. It was the best skiing ever, I don't think anything will ever compare.

He who waits, always wants.

And some of the guys who was with the 'expert' group shouldnt have been there at all, so that kinda sucked aswell..

NOT ME! never even went skiing out of my state. and we definitely dont have any Heli skiing here...

as soon as i graduate im going to bella coola. won't have enough money until then.

I feel bad for people who don't drink, cause when they wake up in the morning, thats the best the're going to feel all day

this thread is pretty old. so im wondering if anyone has done it since now?

i did it about a week ago and it was the best experience of my life. i HIGHLY recomend that everyone tries it at least once in their life.

Heli skiing is Sooo sick .. If u get the right guide and your with a film crew or shooting photos or they think you know what your doing ski wise and ?Avi wise then your gonna have the best day skiing of your life..

Ive heard that the company called Mike Wiegle heli skiing in blue River is fantastic. im going in feb. mwahahah

my brother works for a heli tour operator in the uk www.eaheli.com so thanks to him, we've been to many of the top heli ops around the world. in our experience, the best in north america are:

Bella Coola- insane terrain, great snow, they allow you to ski sick lines (if they think you're up to it) and best of all they offer a 'heli only' option where you stay in a cheaper hotel, get the heli and its like $3000 cheaper!

Mica Creek- same as bella coola re. terrain, snow and letting you ski lines, but also sick trees when the weather's bad. can you say pillows??

Skeena Heli- very similar to mica, epic trees, huge area, chill people.

Northern Escape- i haven't been but my bro says its sick.

No surprise that these are the go-to ops for film companies, their terrain is actually steep, they allow you to rip lines and they generally appreciate the fact that you're not fat, 50 years old and wearing a gaper suit.

Steer clear of super-big ops like CMH- they literally make you "plough" a 20 degree powder field right behind the guide and are full of said gapers.

Alaska is Alaska therefore the terrain is unparalled, but its so easy to get skanked by the weather and tree skiing is limited.

Hope that helps, my advice would be JUST DO IT! Yeah, so its expensive, but so are unnecessary luxuries like plasma tvs and nice cars to sit in traffic jams in...

no way you'll regret it.
