me and my buds are going to Jay or Mad River tomorrow. we're coming from southernish NH, so the drive is either like 2.5 or 3 hours so we're leaving real early. i want to best skiing - J has 208" this season with 52" in the past week. MRG has like 100" with not much recent snow other than this storm.

so, NS, where should we go?!?!

please help! +k for solid responses

Watch the system coming in tonight. Forecasts are calling for a bit more along the Green Mountain spine, but Jay is famous for doing well during these type of storms. Really can't go wrong with either, but if i had to vote i'd say MRG because i dig the vibe there.

Go to Jay and bring your student ID or other mountain season pass to get a discount.

MRG has been hurting horribly for snow this year even after last weekend's big storm. They're more in line with the storm coming tonight through Friday morning, but there's not a lot of base to play with and the storm may only drop 8" while you're there.

Jay isn't predicted to get as much from this storm as MRG, but they got +50" since last Thursday including a healthy chunk Monday into Tuesday. However, knowing the way Jay operates, they'll most likely get maybe only 2-3" less than MRG.

The nicest part about Jay has been it's almost all tourists. Most of them have no idea where to go except for the more popular routes. I skied knee to waist deep, untracked lines Saturday am through Sunday pm, including untracked lines at 3 pm Sunday on Big Jay.

If you need validation for what I'm saying, I was at Jay Saturday and Sunday and had a friend who skied MRG Saturday and Jay Sunday.

yeah pretty much what everybody else said. I was at jay saturday and sunday and it was unreal. I just got back from MRG and it was fun but you can only really only find good snow in the tight trees. While MRG is forecasted to get more snow I think if you're making the drive you can't go wrong with Jay.

mrg has been great this year, you just have to go where all us locals cut lines way off on the sids of the resort, however this week all the local kids have off so pretty much every line at mad river is going to be trashed, i know my friends and i ticked off almost every good line/ cliff at mad river on sunday so the only way to find good snow is on the more minor lines. you should probably just go to jay

JAY PEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went up last friday expecting to ski saturday and go home.I havent left yet... Should be super sick the next 2 days. Every trail is open and they all have a great base.
