Who still supports Saga?

After last year's mess, it shocks me to see Saga still in business. I thought they burned enough bridges with all their customers to prevent them from ever having a thriving business again.

Will you support Saga again? Why or why not?

honestly love the cuts and the colors every year, but i actually bought 2l bibs at amazing preseason prices but unfortunately they weren't actually that waterproof and I blew out the crotch not even 2/3rds through my season. granted i got a thicc ass and hit the bootpacks around jackson hole pretty hard, maybe shoulda gone 3L but either way was v dissapointed. If i were just park skiing out east or in the midwest mighta lasted longer but hard saying.

Had a similar experience and I’m scrawny as fuck. They’re stuff still looks really dope but the quality is just crap.

Stitching has always been crap, material has always been pretty good. My mittens were the best Saga product I ever owned.

Full price hell no

60-70% off price hell yea

That was also my mentality before last year tho so my opinion is unchanged.

Pretty aligned with what has already been said, quality is crap, my last pair of Saga pants did not even last a full season.

There is no way I'd ever buy something full price from them, but at 70% off maybe.

I have worn the shit out of my Jekyll and Hyde puffy, but I got it on sale back in the good old days, wasn't about to pay 140$ or whatever the insane listing price was.

what happened last year?

their warehouse got "robbed" and they screwed a bunch of people out of outerwear last season. Very little communication with their customers, left a BUNCH of people in the dark till over the summer i think. Pretty wack move, i know shit happens but saga did not take care of it the way they should have, in my opinon

Did they ever make any information available that confirmed they were robbed? Any sort of police or insurance documents? Or did they just say it happened and that was that?

There was an article about it awhile back

I've always liked their Tek pullovers, was thinking of getting a new one this year despite all the bad press, but this year's drop is pretty shit so that's made my mind up for me.

not sure why this is in quotes, I personally saw the security footage, the blowtorched lock, raided shipping container, the posts selling stolen gear a year later and I can confirm that arrests were made. take off your tinfoil hat.

Still got my stuff 3 weeks later and who cares i wasn’t skiing in June

Did holes start to appear from the stitching coming out as you took it out of the package?

Love how revealing this thread it. Just shows haters always speak the loudest but that doesn't mean the entire community is behind them.

I like all the others was burned, no customer service, they took the $ and ran. Wish I saw these reviews before I placed my order...

separate from the Saga situation, the BBB is garbage that shouldn't be taken seriously. Don't support shitty companies like Yelp/BBB/etc that extort business owners under the guise of community curated reviews

Take it however you want but all the saga bbb associated customer complaints were clearly not just made up for nothing clearly over a course of time ass well

that's specifically why I started my reply with "separate from the Saga situation"

From what I skimmed on your links everything mentioned isn't new info and can be found in a variety of other places, including NS.... you mention regretting placing an order before reading BBB, is that seriously the first source you heard about any of the controversies surrounding Saga?

I still strongly stand by my point of fuck BBB/Yelp/etc.

I don’t really understand all of the poor durability comments. I’ve owned 4 saga jackets and 2 pants throughout the years and all have been awesome. Only my old fatigue pants have gave out and I had abused them. The monarch line is awesome, where else can you get a 3L jacket or bibs on sale for under $150? I just bought the empress jacket for my wife from last year.

The situation last year wasn’t great but it wasn’t their fault. I had thought people still got their gear, or in my case they gave me a gift code so I snagged a pair of mittens for cheap.

I briefly worked in management for a company in SLC that had a poor BBB rating as they previously did not have anyone monitoring open claims/complaints. I reached out to them and was assigned a direct BBB rep. The rep eventually ended up telling me that we could come to some sort of financial agreement to get the poor reviews wiped off the page. The figure ended up being too large for the decision makers at my company, but it just goes to show you that while the BBB can be a good barometer of a company's practices, their integrity is not exactly great and they're certainly not 100% honest and truthful.

Just listened to a podcast with Yelp founder and CEO Jeremy Stoppelman. He's a badass that has stood up against big names countless times to keep things fair for businesses. So I disagree.

Even so, Yelp is for angry soccer moms to vent. So still, fuck em.

thank you, this is the exact bullshit I'm referring to.

I'm not saying all those specific Saga reviews are untruthful, I'm saying the overall practices of BBB/related are so questionable that it's worth avoiding them altogether. Your last sentence sums that up quite well.

see Dan Browns reply above, Yelp does the same shady shit. I too listened to that How I Built This episode, and I guess we can agree to disagree

Not the episode I listened to, it was a Masters of Scale podcast. In this day and age, I'd say Yelp is far from "shady" considering they could make millions more if they did not control the quality of reviews on their site. Just because it's a platform that Karen's use to vent about managers doesn't make it inherently bad.

oh I assumed you meant How I Built This since that episode is recent, I'll check out Masters of Scale

but I was talking about [tag=6745]@danbrown[/tag] reply not [tag=145266]@.nasty[/tag] ... soccer moms/karens/venting is funny but not at all what we're talking about

Yes I can read. Wasn’t trying to actually add pertinent info, just saying fuck Yelp in any regard.

alright now it's getting a tad confusing. I was replying to [tag=131239]@mehregan15[/tag] since it seems like they thought I was talking about your reply, not [tag=6745]@danbrown[/tag]. I agree with your comments, it's true and important, just pretty separate from what Dan and I were talking about

I agree we're both on the same page of fuck yelp

Yeah, BBB is shit, we agree, but Yelp doesn't do those things so...?

I have a life dude and a family and a job . I haven’t been on NS in years. I came on here to understand why the hell I can’t get a phone call/ email back from this company this thread was at the top of ski Gabber coincidentally when I signed in, so I’m not the only one. I can tell you are a forum thread guy- probably going to respond to my comment again...

Done plenty of research, from your replies so far (FuCk YeLp BrOs!!!!!) i'm guessing you have not. Once I learned about Jeremy and his business acumen, I dug deep, mostly on him as a person, but that led to a lot on Yelp. A line that sums it up best "“I think we’re waking up to realize a lot of big companies, presumably under pressure to grow and satisfy Wall Street, are focusing more on growth and making money than sticking to some core set of values that are aspirational.”

Yelp sticks to their values. If you still hate them, that's totally fine, but to say they are a shit company with no backup? Classic Newschoolers.

wow ok, I have no words for this besides we can agree to strongly disagree, we’re clearly on very different pages

back on track to Saga....

It'd be great if you could provide some sources because I can't really seem to find anything substantiating your claim that they're shady. Not saying they are not, just saying it'd be great to get some sources.

yikes dude I mentioned a podcast because you brought one up, and if you know about How I Built This then you know Guy Raz never dives fully into controversies and dances around to keep things light and flowing. What I've been talking about has nothing to do with podcasts. Thought it was obvious and didn't need clarifying, but there it is...

As far as sources, ~2 min on google provided quite the nice list to start out with. It's a rabbit hole that you could spend countless hours diving into, but this is a solid start. In addition to internet sources, do you personally know anyone who owns a small business? Next time you see them ask them about Yelp, I guarantee their response won't be peaches and cream
