John Symms, MD – PGY2
Dr. John Symms grew up on a family-owned fruit farm in Caldwell, Idaho. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Utah, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a minor in Spanish. While attending college in Utah, John competed internationally in halfpipe skiing and later covered the sport as a columnist for ESPN, Powder Magazine and various other publications. During his medical education at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Dr. Symms was drawn to otolaryngology because of the meticulous anatomy, rich variety, fulfilling patient relationships and charismatic, capable practitioners that pervade the field. Outside of medicine, John is an avid chess player, cyclist, slack-liner and musician. He also cherishes the time he gets to spend with his wife and children. "
