Who misses the older South Park?

Now, don't get me wrong, the newer episodes are super funny, but does anyone else miss the old random ass episodes that had nothing to do with anything? All the new episodes somehow must tie in to pop culture, but the old ones were just so random, that they became much funnier.
Sparky the gay dog, for example, was hilarious just because, who the hell thinks of a gay dog going to a gay animal sanctuary that's owned by someone named Big Gay Al. Or when the kids go camping with Ned and Jimbo and run into Scuzzlebutt, the Sasquatch-like thing with Patrick Duffy for a leg?
Anyone else feel the same way?

ya i hear what you're saying, they used to do a lot more with having "celebrities" in episodes (ie - crocodile hunter), and always killing kenny but I think now that it's pretty secure they have more flexibility. I like when the episodes have some social commentary but it isn't overwhelming. A good mix is the key i think. It's scary how successful that show has been, most shows are lucky to last a season and they keep it fresh and hilarious. My personal favorite was cartman's "you will respect my authoritaaay"

i have a dvr series recording for all episodes on like 3 channels so i get a good mix of old and new. both have something to offer for sure

man i think there getting funnier and funnier, they also have that side angle of the characters now that makes everything way better... if you dont know what im talking about, you havent watched enough southpark

The show really evolves as time goes own for me. I loved the old episodes when they first came out, but the show like matured with me. Now that I'm more intelligent, it seems as if the show is too.
Great show, not really an episode i don't like.

that is probably one of my favorite SP episodes.

They still drop a random episode ever once and a while. The Coon was pretty random, same with the queefing episode.

so true.

I n my opinion, it's the smartest show on TV right now. I may be getting a little ahead of myself but still when you look at the social commentary and underlying messages of each episode, you realize that matt and trey are freaking geniuses.

that being said, whenever comedy network plays an older more "poop" humored episode I still crack up.

Great show no matter how you look at it.

i was actually thinking about this earlier today.
they make all the episodes now wicked dramatic. like overly dramatic with the main plot or whatever. the older episodes just seem like a different type of humor than they are doing now.
