since my friends are pussies and i am prob gonna be out solo a lot, does anyone bring a cd player or mp3 player. i was just wondering which one was the best.

i use an mp3 player, one of the nike ones cause appartently they are indestructible

i dont listen to musac when i ski cuz the shit that i have tried is too bulky.. i rather ski with my friends than listen to musac

Man, there's nothing I hate more than trying to talk to one of my buddies who's listening to tunes so loud he cant hear. They'll repeat what everyone else just said, or be yelling so loud, cuz they have the music blarring. If you ride alone, go for it, not if you're gonna hang with some friends in the park.

Yeah I agree, I love getting ripped and skiing with tunes but I only listen to music when I ski alone.

i use my cd player, with the remote along my jacket zipper. it doesn't skip bad.

its a panasonic, very small, witht a remote.

i've never tried listening to music while i ski, i can see how some of you might enjoy it , especialy in the park, if it gets you pumped up and in a good flow, but i think it would be distracting, i also think it would take away from the experience of riding in the mountains

 
when my family and i go out to CO for vacation i always listen to the tunes cause i ski alone. but i agree with everyone else when your skiing with your friends dont be listening to music

aren't you guys 'fraid of screwing a jump and messing ur cd players or whatever? personally i don't do it and i think it's an old biking habit of mine. i gotta hear everything so i can respond to stuff and make sure everything's working properly

 
ya i hear that skodeo, i never listen to tuunes while i ride my bike

i dunno, i would put myy cd player in the pocket beside my chest, it doesn't get hit often

whatever you do dont put it in a pocket covering your ribs, cause i had one of those radios in my chest pocket and crashed on hardpack, and it hurt alot, i thought i was dead

ya I have deffinately cased on my mp3 player quite a few times, but still it works hahaha, and I must say when I was biking this summer I tried listening to music while I road, and I fucked up soooo bad and almost hit a tree straight on, I got all cut up too, that was shitty... last time I did that

when hell freezes over, I will ski there too
 
i used to ride with my mp3 player...but not this year kuz i fucked it up planting..damn rain and water

but it is real good when u r going down the hill, but if u r with friends it gets annoying

 
It's funny hearing the newbs go out of control screaming 'ooooooohh shhhiiiiiiitttt!!!'. Missing that just wouldn't be as funny.

Or like the time when a little racer kid tried to impress us by going up to the jump switch but when he tried to turn around to hit it normal he wiped and layed there for about a minute until his friend helped him up.

If you want something cheap small and ok memory mp3 wise get a Samsung Yepp on ebay. make sure it is one of the newer ones because those are the small ones. a 64 mb one is like $40 on ebay they have 128 mb ones that are the same size and the y also have 32 mb ones for dirt cheap.

me only if I am by myself I listen to tunes. I use my yepp even though I also have a MD because the MD is a smaller one but it is still too big and if I were to fall on it it would fuck me up real good

IPOD!! Don't get a CD player. they skip waaaay too much and eventually you'll just get so annoyed you'll throw it in the garbage. Ipods are sweet. They hold like 1000+ songs and never skip.

 
when i was skiing alone up at sunpeaks last year it was cold as shit and i had my nomad II mp3 player with me and the liquid crytsal display started to freeze so when ever i'd change something on the screen it was really slow. kinda funny, i never thought it would start freeze

i have a sony sports cd player and its pretty much indestructable. ive dropped it many times when i used to skateboard and it still works, but its too bulky to use skiing.

i have a sony md, but just lost my headphones. can anyone reccomend a few for me. i was lookin at the sony 300s and 250s, but i heard that they break kinda easily.

i use my MD when i'm by myself...i gets me pumped and it keeps my mind of over concentrating on a jump so i don't think to much and eat shit.

yeah, the ipods are sweet but they're insanely expensive...i'd rather spend that $500 on skis. I've got a samsung yepp, that thing is so small...mp3 is easily the best way to go since they're usually as small as MD players and most can store more music

 
the philips-nike ones are super sweet

so small and they are indestructable...they come in a 64mb for 150 and a 128 mb for 200 im gettin one for xmas.

 
2 hours ago i was jumping up and down hollering because i just got an mp3 player for xmas. now i'm screaming and pissed since i can't figure the thing out. i hate technology. just had to vent. thanks.

 
Minidisc players are sweet, but I like my mp3 player because it's a jukebox that can hold thousands of songs. I just set up playlists for different moods and it's like having your own customized radio stations without commercials.

Nike/D-link/other small mp3 players that hold 64-128 mb of songs are good because they are light, and you can change the songs on their daily.

Skip free, light, just not alot of storage.

Minidisc player: Rarely skips, very light, but you are dealing with moving parts. You can just carry a few discs with you and you have plenty of tunes to last you.

IPOD: Great, but expensive.

CD Player: bulky, but hey, its the way to go if you are a cheap mofo. even better if you have a cd burner.

Archos Jukebox: I've done alot of investigating I've found this to be the best way to go.

It holds thousands of songs ( stores 6gb to over 20gb) and sells for around $150-250 . It's built like a rock and has built-in padding to protect it from nasty falls.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

 
The archos jukebox is fairly heavy in comparison to md players and the like, but you can just secure it somewhere in your jacket or pants and then the weight is not even noticeable.

mp3. Wrap it up in a headband or something for extra padding. Mine didnt break when i slid on it down the landing of a tabletop.

I have one of the new sony netmd minidisc player/recorders. they are sick as fuck. it's hella easier to put music on cause you just put the mp3's straight on instead of recording in real-time like the old ones. i have the gold one that is $130.
