Who LIKES MY NEW SKIS LOL

I think these came up a little while ago, but this is the first time I actually looked at them...

At first I thought the bindings were just gold plated Pivots, but I guess they are actually in house bindings of their own. What scares me is if you look at the toe peice it looks raised off the ski by a small peice of metal... Kinda scares me honestly, It just looks delicate.

I feel like if someone was really crushing it on these skis they would break.

Looks pretty much like a standard p18 toe, just gold

I'm so glad they cut down an 8000 year old tree for these.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe bog oak is just dead wood that's been buried in a bog, since most bogs are just layers of dead plants/ trees with moss holding them together there aren't many plants or even trees that can grow on them because of how acidic the water is.

yes they explain it on the website, oak trees don't live to be 8000 years old

Also can we talk about how these skis are endorsed by Arnold fucking Schwarzenegger,

“Foil Skis are one-of-a-kind. I have never before seen such craftsmanship nor have I experienced such balance and ease of control on a pair of skis”

8000 year old trees exist, and if they did they definetly wouldnt be oak

id love to see a double blind test by good ski reviewers to see how these do. i don't even know how the skis themselves were designed though, or if they are just a rebranded version of something that exists already

so they basically made skis with driftwood cores?

I mean the bindings are pretty much already just gold plated pivots

Yup, 8,000 year old driftwood, and it's not even the cores they used it for the top sheets

Its reclaimed logs that are underwater for thousands of year and they are using a veneer topsheet so it is most likely 1/42 thick and $10-20 a square foot.

they must be but i havent seen anything about how exactly this all went down. maybe it was purposely done on the DL so they don't blow Foil's (ridiculous) market approach here

Wouldnt it be stupid heavy, scratch easily and have low energy transfer?

Wouldn't a solid gold fiddle weigh hundreds of pounds and sound like crap?

Bindings are only plated, so they would weigh only slightly more, not even noticeable. Cores are ash and paulownia with bamboo sidewalls for whatever reason, and going off of wood density they would be pretty average in terms of weight. I'd assume that they ride like a normal pair of skis, but they are obviously nothing special and way overpriced.

But they are gold plated so they are better

Actually:

If you say 8000 year old trees exist then that means you include clonal trees since the oldest individual tree is 4800 years or so. This means that there is actually an oak that's far older than 8000 years. Look up the Jurupa oak in California.
