Volant is replacing (warranty claim) my 185 Machete McG's with 180 Souls. Why the are giving me 180s, I dont know, but Souls are a little too fat for me anyway (East coast). I'm an all mountain skier who does anything, groomers, crud, bumps, trees, etc. with every run ending in the park. What should I replace them with. I'm thinking Head Cyber iC 160/180 (depending on how much the chetes fetch on ebay) or maybe Elan M12s. I was just wondering if you guys have any insight on either of these skis, companies, or any other ski that might work for me

Yeah I am pissed off now, Volant fucking sucks. Most of there skis are not metal anymore and that was Volant trademark. It has been painful to see this company go down the drain!

you should consider some Salomon 720s, they aren't as wide as the 1080 and they are a really good all mountain twin tip, I even raced on some last year...

 
NO, if your looking for an east coast ski... look away from salomon... their 'power FOAM' cores are shit for stiffness. If I were You, i'd go with Atomic Tweaks... you seem to be looking away from twins... but you like park. So go for these because everyone knows Atomic make sick speed skies... these are perfect for you

volant's topsheets are still metal, but they have a different sidewall on them to make them lighter i'm guessin.

Here is the deal with volant.

Yes they are still in business

No they never were out of buisness

yes they were bought out and are no longer made in colorado.

No they are not made in china or japan or tawain or indonesia.(cant remember where exactly maybe germany)

Yes the topsheet is still metal

The sidewall or the part that is capped is mad of a fiberglass type of material (like the atomics r 11).

It lighten the ski up a bit and makes it turn better.

It is a better ski than before.

Thats the deal on volant\

So know everyone can stop spreading the rummors.

 
Volant was bought by Gen-X. The same shitty company that makes Vision snowboards, Lamar, limited, razor, oxygen and a bunch of other lame crap. As for the direction of Volant, it may be interesting to see what happens.
