After vail bought peak resorts i got myself a 1998 polaris indy 500 for less than an epic pass. Have not looked back. Anyone else in here ride sleds? Post your rides!

Work thats been done: new fuel lines, intank line, carbs cleaned, new fuel filter, spark plugs, new seatcover/windshield, and a head gasket

Lol I've been thinking about pulling trigger on one, had to take care of a few other things first but it's on my list. You perform the maintenance yourself? How did it go? Difficulty and time spent vs. working on a car?

Grew up owning a few of them, was my daily transportation to school many days in the winter from 7th to 12th grade. Learned to work on them through those years, worked as a mechanic at a Artic Cat and Ski Doo dealership for a few years. I dont own any at the moment but my family and many friends are still way big into them back home. Dump lots of money into them to climb higher and go faster, just not for me. I catch a ride with them and have them take me to the top and pick me up at the bottom. Throw them some gas money and assist with breakdowns when needed. I will probably buy something similar to what you purchased and just use it around the house when I get back home to Idaho. Congrats on your purchase, those Indies are pretty bullet proof and will keep on running with minimal maintenance. Keep the clutches clean and make sure the weights work freely and you should be good to go. Also, maybe change the gearcase oil if you havent already. I have seen lots of those neglected through the years.

Yeah i have some mechanically inclined friends to help out too but theyre not too tough to figure out, just in this last season i learned a ton. Way easier than a car imo. Especially if you go carbed over efi. The worst thing was blowing my head gasket, luckily no coolant got in the cylinders. That whole job took like 30 minutes and after the fix its never ran better!

Thats a good way to do things! I still get some turns in on the hill every now and again but im no longer doing 30+ days a season.

I agree these little fuji 488s seem to take the abuse well
