Who else hates Engineering?!

What up guys... All I want to say is that I'm in first University in Electrical Engineering, and that shit is tough as hell! I feel like highschool was a complete waste of time and didn't prepare me at all. Man I have no free time anymore. I hate doing work! All I want to do is hit the slopes and chill with the guys and party all day.

Anyone else out there in engineering having as tough a time as I am?

Any older guys got advice to us young kids on how to manage our time? because it seems I have no time for myself anymore.

Peace.

a good friend of mines in engineering at cal poly, he seems pretty miserable and most engineers i know are impersonable, republican jackasses so.....

my guess is that engineers have high suicide rates. much like architects and dentists.......... not much respect for the work that's done, even though they're busting their balls off. which is why i'm not going into architecture.

i was going to go for a quad daffy but i was like, why huck? -mommy

Im a student at Cal Poly and its pretty hard but everyone around here is cool. That nerdy engineer stereotype is pretty untrue. Next years gonna be really hard though, especially since I'm majoring in Aerospace.

Hear hear. Engineering is not exactly too fun. I think you said you were in first year. Well here is some news I'm sure you want to hear. Second year is worse. At least here anyway. In first year I spent a lot of time doing work that I didnt have to do, but should to understand shit (ie studying, doing problems etc.) This year I have soo many assignments and shit, that all my time is spent doing them. Here I am on a Friday night, finished Second Order DE's assignment 20 mins ago, missing Freshtival in the process, and there is no end in sight as far as the work for this weekend goes. So here is a Big Fuck you to engineering. Hopefully, it gets better soon.

Oh and I believe someone has a nomination for their own reward. Unless of course you were kidding, but it seems that that doesnt matter anymore when selecting nominees.

yeah so... youre done... most I KNOW... forget it, my friend in engineering is always complaining, shall we leave it at that?

Hey, im in bioengineering at Lehigh, supposedly one of the top engineering schools in the country, and i think its easy right now. Granted im only a freshman, but its not bad at all, kinda funn actually.

I ski Killington

College passes are awesome

I'm doing Mechanical Engineering at UNH, and I love it. I'm putting in a lot of work and time, but it's definitly something I enjoy and want to do.

No offense to you Americans, but I have heard that it is somewhat easier down there. Now if only I had 30000 a year I'd be on my way.

I'm in ME at Montana State. its a breeze, I've done about as much work as I did in high school, and still pulled a 4.0 last semester. I'm minoring in physics though too, so now that I'm having to take more classes I had to cut back on work hours. But its still alright.

I'm an ME at CU Boulder, its not too bad i still get to party a bunch of nights a week if I please. Alot of work but its wicked interesting.

will, how is CU? I was thinking of possibly transfering in the future if I get sick on NH. is the program good?

-Pat Melvin

i really hope engineering isnt that hard cuz thats wut ive always been thinking i was gonna do

i have noticed on visits ive gone that most engineering students seem to be, how can i put it, up tight?

i get decent grades but ive always been a slacker so im sorta nervous bout college and fittin in just cuz i dont think im like most of the engineering students that i know personally

Nah, not many up tight, it's just that it's more math, so the mathletes choose it. but there are a lot of us normal people too.

-Pat Melvin

those of you out there that say engineering sux, did you always complain about math in highschool? i need to decide if i wanna put down engineering for college apps. and i mean i def dont enjoy math, but i think its pretty easy (taking calc AB now) and so engineering sounds like it'd be pretty interesting stuff. so 2 questions, those of you that hate it, did you used to think math/science was a piece of cake? and those of you that like it, do you still have a life (sports, girls, parties, etc.)?

I am a Mechanical engineering major and am in the middle of my second year. Yes, it is hard as hell and i spend lots of time on it, but its also something that i really want. My freshman year i took my intro course to engineering and my instructor told me that if you dont love what you are doing in this class right now this is not the major for you. Its going to be alot of work and the payoff if very good. Its all about how bad you want it...and for tips on studying i would say try to get some homework done on firdays before you go out and party and do your homework right after you get it so you remember the material and its easier. Good luck man.

Hmmm, it really does seem that you guys down South have it better. And In answer to your question (foget who,) Yes I used to like Math and Science I always did good in it in Highschool and basically didnt study at all. I really think that if I knew how it was gonna be, I would have gotten into a trade instead. At least then you are almost guaranteed a job. How many Engineers does the world really need anyway?

CU's engineering programs are actually really good, rated top 20 in the US I believe. Alot of funding goes into the engineering program as well so whenever you do projects and shit its way easy to get funding. i'd say do it.

i wanna be a mechanical engineer when i graduate

i dont mind lots of work

Yeah it sucks when all of your friends are all business majors and your in engineering. I do put in way more time then most of my friends. If you are interested definately go for it. Your credits will definately transfer majors/schools well since freshmen year you will be taking harder math/science classes then a senior business major. I am double majoring in int. business and my workload is terrible, but the main difference is everyone in engineering is interested an excited about their work in class. Half of my econ class is sleeping or not there while my engineering classes involve lots of class participation. I am a ME by the way.

.

I go to an engineering School (colorado School of Mines). Yeah you gotta work, but it only gets ya down if you let it and don't plan.
