Whiteface 11/12

I have been driving by the face for the last week every day and more and more snow is accumulating! they start snow production the 15th, and open the 25th! praying to the snow gods for an early opening like last year, who else is gonna tear up the face this year?

im from rochester but i am definitely going to drive down there for a long weekend or two this year, it looks pretty nice

you wont regret it man, whiteface is a underated mtn and some of the best steeps in the east and there are tons of hidden gems of skiable terrain, message me when you head up man if you ever want to REALLY ski the face!

nice, cant wait! They widened that really sketchy part on the wilmington trail, and redid the little whiteface chair...soo hopefully its not so damn slow anymore...and now hopefully this will allow you to take the facelift to the little whiteface chair, instead of sometimes waiting in line for the gondola on the weekends.

It gets pretty nice, every year is different, of course, but their park crew does a pretty good job. you wont be disappointed. down flat downs, a couple rainbow rails, cbox, flat box's, fruit-by-the-foot, tripple barrel up rail, wall, battle ship, tires, poles, water tanks, an array of rails and jumps. nice jump layout last year too... so we can only hope for better.

I live in Watertown NY so the drive is not to bad. I definitely plan on making it up there as much as possible, last year was awesome!

Agreed, we got some pretty good dumps last winter, best part was it was in the middle of the week each time so it was dead. Some of the best powder and tree skiing I have seen at whiteface in a long while.

iceface...... haha only mtn ive been too where it was safer to slide down on your side due to a skating rinks worth of ice on every trail

Must have not been up last year then!... There are few trails that are known for some ice occasionally but a lot of people blow it out of proportion, let me guess you rode excelsior all day... Or you went to the summit on a bad day and the top half of skyward was windblown... Its all about the conditions if they havent had new snow in a week...Then you can bet its gonna be icy on the tops of skyward, essex, excelsior, and approach.

The first thing i thought of when i read this was that this kid probably was riding the gondola and just lapping excelsior all day like everybody else who thinks they are a decent skier there... you need to venture away from the crowds to get away from the ice

I would like to go there again. Haven't made it in the last 2 years. I used to go there a decent amount with the gore whiteface passes.

And to whoever said go to gore, FUCK YOU

Gore is cancer

Meh its not to bad... i would go but my gf lives ten mins away from whiteface and i live like 45 mins away soo rather not drive 3 hours south for more of a mediocre mtn.

Because it blows severely. Massive budget, 0 park budget. They invest nothing into their park but build a new lodge here, a new lift there, a couple trails that are flat or uphill here.

The guy that runs the park is absolutely lazy as fuck and can't ride anyway. Smacks the tiller off lift towers because he's not paying attention, backs up too close and fucks up multiple rails multiple times. Gets fencing caught in the tiller and fucks that up for a little bit. Makes a 20 foot wide take off a 10. Takes somebodies slave labor on a hip and ruins it by driving all over it doing god knows what. Sucking so bad at grooming the mini pipe that you have to go in with shovels and rakes to build it. Cuts it at a late point and leaves huge dirt spots and chunks. Parks the cat and turns his lights off and calls his girlfriend for an hour plus every night. Tries to pull peoples passes for doing inverts then brings in a video to prove that he tried a backflip once drunk with his friends at his house(night time powder inverts= cool shit) Help him load barrels, tires, all kinds of shit in the truck to bring to the mountain. Shit never makes it to the mountain.

The park is sketchy. I hit about 50 percent of the things. I'll hit this 8 foot long rail than this shitty booter, skip the aborterd booter, skip the sketchy rail with the giant burs, hit this booter, then this little rail and that's the end.

The mountain there is fun though. I know all the spots. IT was a little bit of a pain in the ass when they put the fencing up farther on foxlair to make it more of a bitch to get to the best trail on the mountain. Also dropping the rope on double barrel for first tracks after the 3.5 foot vday snowstorm 4 years ago was pretty epic. Like the mountain but fuck that place.

And every department hassles me. Bought a pass there 2 years ago and just got hassled. I was like fuck you I paid for a fucking pass, I'm a customer, finally got some people to chill out. They like to cut trails up hill there which I never understood, sucks balls to snowboard. At least they did the bear mountain expansion so you don't have to bomb cloud at mach 10 and not make it across the flats any way because it wasn't icey or windy enough in the one spot you want it to be.

And the crew that was really tight there for a few years ago all moved on. Peaked out 07/08 season. We rolled deep on lower sleighride. By smoke hut was in full sesh mode.

Good times but way more shitty times. MOAR JORE sucks

and it geta such a bad rap because all the dumbass city people ski the same blue square everyday and it gets so icy and then we get "iceface"

O yeah......ITS SNOWING... 2-8 inches expected at the face... lookin good but warm for opening day... high of 48...

pretty sick, we have 2 jumps and i think 6 features with that but a lot of playful booters u can find all over the mountain right now

no lie its been a little icy but theyv had the guns blowing for like 5days straight so its pretty nice today was pretty sweet with some gnarly bumps on lower cloud the snow cover is good enough for no rocks or anything but some ice

i did it last year with my friend mike (KingTaco) and it wasn't bad at all and it was very successful. we folded the rear seats down in a loaner jetta that i had and just slept in our ski gear and sleeping bags. it was legit! do it
