White water Kayaks

All the major companies make fantastic boats with small variations... get what suits your needs best whether it be more volume, better carving and cutting or whatever

I've used pretty much every Jackson Kayak whitewater boat and I loved them. I've also used a few pyrahna and liquidlogic boats. I like the jacksons the best. They have a couple of playboats to choose from. My favorite is the fun runner, which is a play boat/river run boat, it's sooooo fun.

Just took out my Freeride From LL and ga damn is that boat fun. Still fast enough for the random creeking and longer trips but very nimble. Love mine.

When I move out west in a few years when I find a job that will relocate me, whats the best way to join the WW/freestyle kayaking community? I have a little experience but I dont think I would want to just buy a boat and head out into local rapids based only on what I read about them online. Im not a social recluse or anything, I just have no idea where theses kinda people would be outside the water haha any good forums?

Personally I have always found everybody in the community super supportive when welcoming new people, maybe look for clubs or facebook groups to try and connect with people and if you have never kayaked before look for places where somebody could teach you how to roll because once you have that down and you stop swimming it makes finding friends a lot easier.

HAHA so true, nobody wants to boat with someone they have to pull outta the water every third rapid.

Maybe look for a local manmade play park or a popular park and play rapid that is crowded, pull into the eddy and start talking.

My buddy used to always have good luck just showing up at the put in and chatting it up until he found a group willing to take on a newish paddler.

Or you could always hit up some bars at the local town surrounding the put in or take out. Best odds are at the bar with the most cars with kayaks on top ha. Most whitewater towns have a bar or two where most of the paddlers go after the day is over.

We have weekly roll classes at the local pool during the winter and spring. Not just for the beginners, but more just for the community to get wet and talk shit. Look for then in your local area.

Played around on my friends Liquidlogic last summer and it was sick! Definitely considering buying my own with my summer paycheck but goddamn skirts and helmets are pricey.

If you end up buying everything new its fucked on how expensive everything is, more pricy than skiing I would say.

I'm an adventure tourism guide in Newfoundland and the Riot Astro is pretty solid in the water, good hip bracing and I've taken it through a lot so it's pretty durable too

Fluid Dope! Bomb af and has a trendy name, along with being an awesome company. Easily the fastest boat on a wave that I've ever paddled
