White Bases

not at all. its alot like waxing, just melt the p-tex into the holes and let it harden then scrape it off. when thats done just wax em up and your good to go

Thanks for the input. Can you get white ptex just in case it is deep and if it's clear it might show the under colour.

don't worry how your skis look, the durability/ performance will end up being much more important.

I have got them already I was just wondering for future refence and to know what to expect. The looks played no part whatsoever in choosing my setup.

They used to make a ton of colors, and still do, but most places will only carry black and clear.

if they damage is deep enough to shownthe colors underneath, then you probally have a core shot and it will need more than just p-Tex, probally a base weld. I suggest using black p Tex though, it adds character to the ski

You just have to make sure you don't burn it too hot otherwise it will have black specs in it from where all the carbon is burning off. Find the right temperature to where it melts clear and it should look fine.

Bases come in two varieties, mainly - die cut's with solid color (think K2 Hellbent) and clear base material that has graphics screened on the back (our skis for example).

If its clear translucent material, use clear P-tex, and it'll probably look shitty. If its white opaque material, use white (if you can find it) or black P-tex, and it'll look shitty.

Unless you have a lot of practice, you'll eventually get one of your fixes to last more than a single day of skiing, and by that time, you'll have done more damage trying to patch it than the initial shot to the base and wont care what color that fucker is.

Is it hard to find the white stuff then? The skis I am talking about have white bases with red lettering on the tips and tails. I got given some clear stuff will it work on them or will it be noticeable?

Its going to be noticeable anyways. You arent going to see it unless you have a crazy good close up action shot of you skiing, and someone who buys them will sure as fuck see it regardless of what you use to fill. Just do whatevers easier.
