Whistler Village accom?

What up NS, I've got 6 weeks in Canada from Dec 15. Probably about 10days in Whis from Dec 15 - 27 ish.

I'm looking for a cheap place to stay, backpackers or similar but I want to be in the Village. Sounds like that's what everyone wants but isn't really possible.

Have been looking Creekside, is that a real mission to get up the hill in the morning?

Appreciate the help in advance!
 
Sweet, forgot to mention I want to be partying most nights, hence wanting to be closer to everything.

I have a couple of buddies staying in the Village but they have no room. If I went up the Creekside gondola would it be hard to meet up with my mates going up from the Village?
 
no, the gondola and creekside lifts converge at the same spot at the top, the roundhouse. if youve all got phones its easy. we were travelling, no phones, and just going on meeting at the top on times. we managed. a lot of waiting but its manageable.

also youve left it quite late. hostel would probs be your best bet if its not already booked.
 
this. you're going at the busiest time of the year and you haven't made a reservation or even pre-scouted places to stay? Ouch. You're going to have a tough time finding a place to stay (especially with a decent central location) and if you DO manage to find a good place to stay be prepared to empty your saving account. Best of luck though. Snow is getting better and more of the mountain is opening each week.
 
Good luck with that pal...busiest time of year...I bet the hostel in checkamus is probably going be full at that time....
 
All hostels close by have been fully booked. Look on craigslist for cheap places to stay. You won't be able to stay anywhere walking distance to the village for cheap though.
 
Thanks guys, managed to suss a place in Creekside 150m from the Gondola for the entire time I'm there. Meeting my mates up the top shouldn't be a drama!

How's the snow looking?
