what does everyone think? will there be a glacier to ride? is it going to be worth it. from what i see there wont be a glacier this summer, but im trying to figure out if its worth it to stick around for the summer..

Well...I certainly wouldn't count on it being an amazing summer. Having been on the inside, I can well imagine that the operations and marketing folks are talking about what it will be like and what they can do about it right now.

i would also like to know. i like having a plan of where im living. plans are good.

Whistler is the most amazing place in the world for summer sports like biking, hiking, swimming! Screw skiing in the summer.

but just go early to glacier and you should be fine

 
well its not like i dont know whistler has other things to do in the summer. i have the best job in whistler in the summer. but i was asking on the account that i ahve some friends who want to move to whistler to ski, and i was hoping to get an answer from someone who actually knows what the glacier should look like this time a year for a good summer.

Consider the state that the glacier was in at the end of the summer last year (horrible) and the amount of snow that has fallen this year (not much) and you'll sort it out with some pretty simple math. Not a lot of snow pack = not very good conditions.

Assuming that it does not snow like a mo-fo for the next 4 months, which is always a possibility.

I got an email from Camp of Champions saying not to worry about this summer as it will have about the exact same amount of snow as last year. So i think the glacier will be just as good as last year.

welll duh of course theyre gonna tell u that.. but anyone whos been on the glacier this winter will tell u the glacier is receding... they cant even use the regular hut for the horstman t-bar... got some shitty temp hut for it cuz the glacier doesnt reach all the way anymore... and last summer the glacier was shitty... so expect a shittier glacier this summer. the crevasses arent even filled in yet lol.

 
actually matty is correct. since posting this i have started working as a snowmaker on blackcomb and i spoke with doug forseyth today, we have more snow on the glacier than there was for last summer. the mtn is hoping for a cloudy spring. if we have that there will be a glacier till the end of the summer, if it stays sunny all the time. then there might be a problem/ but at the same time. they are making plans to start a snowmaking system on the glacier, so that last years problem doesnt reoccur
