Whistler peak to peak illegal base jump.

"Brute force and mechanical advantage was used to open the doors while the gondola was in motion."

sounds like he hacked at it with a hammer or something

They forcefully pulled the doors apart when they were at the highest point..? Lol idk man they got it open and damaged it though.

The community has always been ABSOLUTELY horrible. The lot of them are extremely racist, xenophobic and harbor prejudice against anything that is unfamiliar to them.

"Would have been better if he queefed a super rank fart then bailed leaving her trapped in there bathing in the smell of the inside of his anus"

stoked this video came out, hearing about the jump from the peak to peak maintenance guys was very entertaining.

basically, the dude tried a few different ways to keep the doors open (something like 4 or 5 door faults were reported in the previous few days). he found something that worked, (some straps) waited till the last ride across of the day and hucked er. woulda got away with it too, but the girl couldn't get one of the straps they used to hold the door open off, so when it came into the station the door never opened properly. the girl apparently claimed to have no part of it at all. just a random occurrence in her day. then the video comes out.

as punk rock as that was... no balaclavas, not even blurring their face, originally posted from the dudes personal youtube account, and all when it's still a hot topic. shoulda let the rumour mill turn a long while longer.

lolol ya LiveLeak comments are pretty fucked

Nothing good about that jump.

Today, the majority of the base community is pretty pissed at this guy. And rightfully so.

Tools like these give the sport a bad name and make access to any legal exits harder.

Plus, it wasn't exactly a rad stunt.

- The guy did a crazy high pull – compare it to if Dollo would have straight aired the entire slope style course today.

- The guy may have dedicated this to Shane, but possessed zero of Shane's qualities. For starters – Shane did a triple backflip with a double twist. And where was the goofiness combined with a stunt so rad that you had to send out a search party to find your jaw?

This wasn't even a rad thing. This was a broken door and a squeaky voice.

:: hkn ::

PS. And I am still pissed because a few riders got robbed today. Including Henrik.

it's not that rad, Shane would denounce this dude so fast. not to mention Shane sould've done multiple flips.

on the news today they were talking about putting cameras inside each of the peak to peak cabins after this stunt. I wonder how much seasons pass prices will go up to pay for that shit.

Why is that? If I draw a comparison to skiing, poachers don't make access to controlled sidecountry/backcountry any harder.

Not a cool base jump. No trick, pulled his chute immediately. Cost the mountain $10,000 and they already have been having enough financial troubles over the past few years. I love badass illegal base jumps, but this was not one of them.

Thank you explaining this jump in laymen's terms because at first it seemed legit. Not everyday I see someone jump from that high..

How many then? It would take a massive amount of cameras to take a toll on the season pass holders. They lose money on season passes. So it doesn't make sense to raise the price on them to cover what...like an absolute max of $5000(?) that they lose from the cameras....when they can easily make that during a single days lunch sales. Its not going to change anything.

Very few things that are true for skiing are true for base jumping.

- Base jumping is the world's most dangerous sport. It's one of a very few sports

where you put your life at risk every time you do it.

- In 2014 we lost 24 jumpers – that's a lot in a community of some 3500 active

jumpers. I personally lost two friends.

- Any time a jumper goes in, it's in the news. I can read in European newspapers

when an Australian jumper dies.

- All deaths are dramatic. Most deaths are horrible. Rescue workers get traumatized.

It's not a surprise that all accidents make it into media.

- If you're caught jumping in a national park, you face up to $2,000 in fines + you'll have

to pay the cost of any rescue operation + cops or NP rangers will confiscate your gear.

There's more, but I'll stop there…

So, base jumpers are questioned everywhere. Even in places where jumping is legal.

Consequently, one of the worst things a base jumper can do is something that will make jumps more difficult for other jumpers. On that list is getting arrested after the jump, getting caught trespassing, damage property or drawing attention to the illegal side of base.

So the guy jumping in Whistler isn't really the most popular guy among base jumpers.

So, comparing it to ducking the rope somewhere isn't really on point.

If you get your ski pass revoked for whatever reason, it won't really hurt the entire ski community

- and I doubt that you will end up in the news.

See the difference?
