Hey guys, gonna do a semester abroad in Cali and Here's the University I'm able to go to. I'm doing a Bachelor degree in marketing.I'm looking for a good school and some nice beach or activities near, skiing and such.

I'm from Montreal btw

Here's my choice

California Polytechnic State U, San Luis Obispo

California State University, Bakersfield

California State University, Chico

California State University, East Bay

California State University, Monterey Bay

California State University, Northridge

California State University, San Bernardino

Sonoma State University

This might help out a bit.

seriously none of those school have a strong business program. A cal state school is a unusual pick for a out of state/country student. These are all commuter schools. No real sense of a college experience to be had....

You're not going to find any good skiing/beach activities combo in any of the universities you listed. UC Davis is probably the best California university suited for skiing with UCLA/UCSB coming next.

That being said, out of the choices you have, Cal Poly SLO would definitely be the best choice in my opinion. They have a on par business school, best reputation out of any CSU, nice beach 5 min drive away, and has a great college town/people.

I cant speak for the business program specifically, but Cal Poly SLO is a rad place. sick weather, tons of mtb trails, 15 minutes from the beach, chill town. Im considering it, though I would be going into engineering instead of business.

i'd say slo/chico are exceptions.

Also he's only going on exchange for 1 semester.... ranking's not a huge deal

Well, I don't have as much choice as wanted, My school don't offer many school in Cali for exchange. So that's why the list is short.

Like Nutz said, I'm only going there for a semester, so the raking is not a really big deciding factor here.

My friend was leaning toward CSUN right now, but Cal Poly SLO look really nice tho.

As for the skiing, I might just take a 2-3 days to Mammoth I not looking to ski every weekend. Went In Revy before starting school for that, plus my friend don't ski. I'm mainly looking to surf, bike (fix) and getting drunk pretty much.

So right now, it would be CSUN vs Cal Poly SLO

Listen to Frosty, he knows whats up. Being from California, I agree with him, go to SLO. Chico is sick if you want to party, not the best academically and its still a decent drive away from Tahoe. Don't go to any of the CSU's in the San Francisco/Bay Area, they are awful commuter schools. Your options are really shitty in all reality, if you could do a semester at a UC school you should look into that.

I live in SLO and go to Cal Poly, you should come here. I'd go into the whole deal about how great it is but I don't want to. It's great I can assure you, better than the other options you have, if you're coming for only one quarter then definitely come here. It's a perfect home base. Smack between SF and LA, its fucking incredibly beautiful. Big sur is a short drive away. And the city is super chill, everyone is nice as fuck and the girls are all really hot. Also, I have been a part of the ski club for 4 years a lot of my good friends are in the club chairs, if you wanted to get involved with that I could introduce you to some folks.
