Which spot is freeskiing's most iconic?

Subject line sort of says it all.

Which one?

We may all have an idea or two. Spit'em out, pls!

The Wasatch are probably the north shore of freeskiing. They have the best of just about everything

Perhaps, although I'd be tempted to say the alps might just beat them to the title.

Chad's Gap, is that even a question?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Chad's was my first thought too, of course, but... even the first response – which included

the Red Ledge in Quebec – added something to consider.

And the Wasatch has more... Jamie Pierre (shred in peace) did a front flip over the Leviathan Gap,

which is some 145 ft = bigger than Chad's. The landing is in the upper right corner of the pic below (which isn't happy to be embedded...).

And then there's Riksgränsen, in the very north of Sweden, where Jan Aikio dropped in at a snowboarding event; the same where Ingmar Backman did the world's highest air – rumors say that Aikio's jump (which made it onto the cover of Powder that year; pic below) was just as high or even higher. And this was in 1996. At that time a legend like Mike Wilson was only 10 y o.

So... there should be more - even though my first thought was exactly the same as yours!

Brings up a good point, there are SO many places where firsts happened.

I'd have to say Eagle's Nest (McConkey's) at the top of KT-22 is pretty legendary as well.

Yeah, I was thinking The Palisades when McConkey threw the first backflip off it

Speaking about Mr. Zurinskas Gap...

When was it last sessioned?

(the most recent footage I've seen of Chad's is when Durtschi hit it in March 2010)

Gotta throw in Corbets couloir. Maybe not freeskiing specific, but definitely one of the iconic spots of skiing as a whole. Your balls don't legally drop till you hit it yourself.

Chamonix // Mont Blanc could easily be credited for birthing the sport. People have been freeskiimg in Cham for a long time.

i've known about park city since i was a lee lad, probably the most iconic terrain park mountain, but chad's gap for location
