Which Binding? AT edition drafting

I am considering getting this. I'm from Minnesota so obviously I won't be doing anything crazy steep and deep. I would be using Salomon Rocker2 108's and still would like to occasionally use them on jumps.

Would you say this is a better option than the Salomon Guardians? I really only plan on using this once in awhile mostly for fun and good exercise.

Depends on how brutal you are on bindings and if you will be skiing really really hard out of bounds. If you are just walking up and doing some meadow skipping down the guardians will be fine.

Also depends on how many skis you have. I wouldn't trust guardians all season in bounds so if you only have 2 pairs of skis I would go fks on both (or your binding of choice) and trekkers.

Hope that helps!!

Slowly starting to think about building a new setup as money and deals coincide. I'm tired of touring in full tilts and guardians on shreditors, especially since it looks like I'm moving and getting way into that walking up mountains game next year.

Right now dream ski is something like the Steeple 102/112 (probably 102 but need to research a little more) and I'm thinking something Radical-esque since I am just skiing to shoot photos and don't need that beast/kingpin huckability. Am I on the right track? I'll make a thread once I figure out where I am moving, and how much I have for a setup but I thought I'd get the ball rolling on bindings a little.

If you're not looking for 'huckability' there's a bunch of lighter skis which ski amply you could jump on.

Marker kingpins are horrible.

No, they are not, I just got back from my first trip with them, 2 1/2 weeks touring in Iceland, and they are fucking sick. No I didn't huck on them, but for everything else they are great. Slight problems I had were related to them being mounted with quiver killers and the screws coming loose, but that's my fault.

Just picked up a set of Atomic Automatic 109s with the tracker on as my first touring setup, this wasn't going to be me first choice setup but the fact that i picked them up for £103 ($155) im not really complaining.

Now i just need to pick up some skins and im ready to go!

So what do you guys actually recommend for people who want frame bindings, not for the resort other a possible random tour out of a gate. But for mediocre transportation and the best downhill/jumping reliability. Compared to most of the touring community I'm young and dumb so I want to go jump off of shit and kinda. Should I do quiver killers so I could have some fks 18s on for most of the season and if i want to tour I'm thinking either adrenaline's or guardians. Pretty much need to pairs of pow sticks now. Really just been wondering whats the best frame binding to jump on pretty much?

Probably Guardians IMO. But it sounds to me like you want Trekkers.

word probably go guardian direction because I do want to tour further than I would ever like to with trekkers. Have used them before and definitely not the best choice for me

Has anyone spent time on the tyrolia ambitions? I'm considering either those or F12s for my new setup, which will be used about 50/50 in resort/backcountry. Backcountry use will be primarily day trips, and 1-2 weekends in a hut per season. I weigh about 160 and I like to cliffs/side hits/the occasional pow jump but dont want barons or similar because of weight. So, thoughts on ambitions? Do F12s have the duke icing problem? Other options?

Dynafit speed radicals. Got two seasons on mine, good 100plus days on them, they are fucking awesome. Lighter then majority of the other Dynafit's yet do everything I need. very few pre releases on them, have held up to hucking 15-20 feet to hard pack and well more then that into pow, would definitely not recommend them as a resort setup because you will just wear them out way to fast.

One thing to think about is what type of ski you are using, a ski that is super soft underfoot may not work that well with these as when the ski flexes it increases the pin spacing on the heel of the boot causing pre release. I have ran moment Belafontes and 4frnt Hojis with them with basically 0 issues, my friend had them paired with a set of Dynafit Grand Tetons and seemed to pre-release every other time he went off anything over 10 feet even with a clean landing in 60-70cms of pow. This could also happen if you were sideways in a narrow chute or say over a big spring runnel and your ski boots were just above the air while only tip/tail where touching snow would be a bad time to release as well!
