Where would you mount bindings in this instance?

I just ordered some 163 Nordica Soul Rider 84s for my little brother and I'm thinking about getting him some Attack 11 demos since he is growing so fast. He will be using these skis for groomers and park. I'd say 50/50. He just learned to hit boxes and small jumps last year so he won't be doing anything crazy in the park and he also needs to learn how to carve still so he's not tearing up the groomers either.

I know most people center mount Soul Riders but I was thinking -1 to maybe -3 would be better for his novice level of skiing. This is his one ski quiver for here in the Midwest (Granite Peak).

Thanks guys. Also if anyone has recommendations on bindings for a 12 year old let me know. Like I said I was thinking Attack 11 Demos.

Out of all the demos i think the general consensus would be that the attacks are the best

Good to hear. It just seems like demos make the most sense here. I don't feel like getting him new skis every year just because his boot size changed.

If he is still learning how to carve, I'd go with -3 or whatever recommended is on those. Get the basics down before you start center mounting. Once you can properly rip a carve (which is hard to do on a center mount imo) park comes much easier.

Also GP represent!!

That's exactly what I was thinking. And word dude. If you ever see a guy rocking a black Bloom Jacket and usually black or camo pants on Vishnu Wets with the Oranges graphic or all black K2 Domains, come say hi. That's typically what I wear. I drive the silver Jetta with the German Euro plate in the windshield and the ski stickers on the rear window.

Sick I'm going to school in MT but should be at granite 4-5 days between the 17th and new years. I have khaki/black bloom bibs and grey jacket

Demos probably do make sense if his boot size keeps changing. You also don't need to worry about mounting point so much on demos because the toes also slide along a track. If you mount for his boot (assuming they are pretty small right now) at -3cm you should be able to adjust both the toe and heel 2-3cm forward so he's at center or close while he's in the park. I haven't used a pair for a few years but from memory, the adjustment is via lifting a tab and sliding so you don't even need a screwdriver to do it.

Should I mount them -3 if I plan on having him ride -3 for this and next season and then having him ride them center for the rest of their life? Or should I center mount them right away? I'm trying to do the math in my head and I can't decide. I'm thinking -3 might make more sense but idk...

i say -3 or so. im gonna sound like an old bitch right now but starting him at center mount makes it likely he develops bad fundamentals. teach him to drive those skis!

I wouldn't have him ride them center right away. I'd mount them center but slide everything back since they are demo bindings. That's what I meant in my previous post.

gotcha. i think it's a fine idea (assuming you can make that change on the demo rails, i've never tried myself). even if you can't move them around like that i'd say mount -3 or so to start anyway

Cool. I'll be going -3. Thanks everyone.
