Where to stay in japan

I'm trying to plan a trip to ski some japow this winter for around 2 months.

I'm leaning toward Hokkaido , niseko is an obvious choice but I was hoping for

Less crowds ( kuradake looks sick). Anyone have a recommendation on cheap

Hostels or other options? Extended stay price cuts would be ideal, lift ticket discounts

Would be a bonus. Subletting a room in a house with some ski bums would also be ideal

If it's cheaper but I don't even know where took look for something like that on the web.

Also any ski area recommendations? Looking for deep and if possible steep. Don't care about park and the more BC access the better.

Hey man, I got your message, and replied. Hopefully that answered a few questions. Anything I didn't cover, just let me know!

I'm planning a trip myself too man but not for as long as you are. Some stuff I've seen on the net while searching might help you.

In general what I have seen is that Japan does not have very steep terrain. But check it out. Also I've seen that some resorts strictly prohibit off-piste and BC skiing, so maybe check out what places do allow it.

Niseko apparently has the best snow. Also maybe check out Shiga Kogen (near tokyo). One of the biggest resorts in Jap and uncrowded compared to Hokkaido

I think crowded is a relative term. It's only Niseko that really is regularly crowded. Everywhere else in Hokkaido, is very quiet. Sure, occasionally on holiday weekends there are lines for the lifts at a few places, but that's due to old lift infrastructure and not volume of skiers. You'll always get freshies.

The population density of Hokkaido is tiny compared to the rest of Japan, so outside of the tourist visitors to Niseko area, there are very few skiers at other hills. The resorts in Honshu are close to some of the largest and most densely populated urban areas on earth, so they get alot more crowded.

Im going to be working in Niseko this season (along with all the other aussies) but from what i've heard resorts like Furano and rusutsu on hokkaido receive the same snow just without the masses of crowds tracking it out so might be worth looking into them.
