Hey dudes,

I want your help.. I am an expert skier but just a beginner at park.. 176cm tall and 73 kg (160 lb)..

I am gonna buy the pipe cleaners and I am thinking were to mount them? -2.5 or -5 ? the factory reccomendation is at -5 ..

and should i go for the 171 or 176? the 176 is a bit taller than me..

176 at least (you could probably even get away with 181), as far as mounting you probably want to go with -2.5, everyone that mounts them there on that ski loves it.

That's just what they recommend for 100% groomers, it's how most skis are labeled for some reason (with the exception of symmetrical and some park-only skis).

No, I 've seen the ski and it writes factory reccomended at the -5 line.

-----------

How much carving ability will I loose at -2.5 and is it a lot easier this way to spin? ( I dont do rails)

either 171 176 would be good weight wise i would say 176 but 171s would be easier to ride since you a beginner at park and mount them any where from -1 back to -3. don't go dead center if you go dead center you mine as well get a symettrical park ski. tanner mounts like 1.5 or somewhere in that area

if i were you id get a ski that is more durable, since you say your doing park and begining your going to fall a lot. if your going with armada get their thalls

Or ar6 if you want something that's stiffer in the tail so better for pipe and bigger jumps.

And apparently it's softer in the nose for butters then the thall

True center. You will not really get a good ride in the park with it mounted back. pus weird swing weight on rails if its mounted back

You could ride the 171 but i feel it would limit you later in the season when you ve progressed ... Grab the 176 for sure! Also bear in the mind that the PC is a stiffish park ski so 181 is probly outta the question unless u have a gymnastics back ground of some form and intend going huge from day one lol?

And yea mount @ true center strictly for park but i would drop back to -1~2 if you intend to actually use em in the pipe

Get the 176 and mount it at center. If you get the 171 and mount it forward (which you really MUST do for park) you will always feel like you're about to go over the handlebars. Especially if you start going big.
Don't mount any further back than -2... Personally I would put them at center and be done with it. It'll save you an extra set of holes in your skis later on when you realise you should have had them at center all along.

i have the 176 ar6 and im 5.9. i had the mounting at -2.5 and it worked good for park and rails and slayed all mountain really nice. right now im getting it mounted for -1.5 to test it out. i had it at -.5 for a bit and i thought it was too far back for a park ski

Swiss cheese ski much? I was always under the impression that you should keep 20-odd mm between mounts... even with the holes filled with resin I wouldn't be terribly confident in the pull-out strength of the ski...

Your completely right. Not only does mounting close to a previous mounting weaken the hold of the screws in the skis core and topsheet, but a second mount also voids any warranty from Armada, and most of the other companies. Therefore, choose wisely.

I ride the AR6 centered, and they rip.

You will get a "better ride in the park" at -2.5. At center you're past core center and they won't carve as well. Your swing weight on rails idea is stupid, 2.5 extra cm of ski tip on a ski that's light on somebody that's 160lbs isn't going to hurt at all. Tanner mounts the farthest forward of the whole Armada team, and mountas -1.5 from true. Everybody else mounts -2 to -3. Have you even skied Pipe Cleaners?

Mine are mounted at -2.5 and carve great. People are going to say go center because they think that non-centered skis can't go switch and can't spin. I liked skiing switch more on 175 GS skis than 178 Anthems. PCs weren't made to mount center, and will perform best everywhere mounted back. If you are looking to spend a ton of time carving around go about -3(JP mounts -3 or -3.5).
