Where to mount halo's

you have to be aware of the elf shoe design cause the recommended fits that ski cause of the funky shape

dont listen to this chap. he does not know what he is talking about. if you do then you will feel like you are riding with a forward mount...

That's because you will be riding a forward mount

And I would most def mount them dead center if I skied mostly park unless it was 2002 or something, not even sure why there is any debate here.

because this is 2010 and there have been quite a few advancements in ski technology since 2002... the alpha's/halo's specifically are not a symmetrical ski so why would you mount them dead center? if anyone actually did some research about these skis before buying them or even used the searchbar to read one of the zillion threads about this exact same thing then you would realize that mounting at dead center would not be conducive to the skis performance at all.... but who am i to tell you where to mount your skis, do whatever you want.

Seeing as i have owned the ski and skied it on both mounts i think i know what im talking about. And how do you know they are center mounted?

All right, I'll give you that. I haven't ridden them both ways and I hate when people talk shit about things they haven't tried so I'm being hypocritical here. But I am trying to get some Alphas and I talked with Spencer about this yesterday after this came up and he said he mounted them dead center. And I've tried several directional skis both ways and always prefer them center mounted for park, I hate that unbalanced swing weight feel and I'm always willing to sacrifice some groomer ripping or ice holding performance for the correct swing weight in a ski that is going to be skied park 75% of the time. Just me though.

Its just the ski handles much better at 2.5, Its feels much more stable and all around fun at 2.5. I have also ski a lot of directional skis mounted center thats why i mounted these center in the beginning.

I just emailed armada and they came back with this,

The reason we recommend-2.5 back is this. If you were to measure from contact point to contactpoint on the Halo and divide by two that line is -2.5 on the ski but centermounted in the sidecut. This gives the ski optimal performance. When youcenter mount a standard ski you are actually mounting it in front of thesidecut as well as the thickest part of the core, reducing performance.
