Where do you want to live when you grow up

Im torn making this decision. am 23 now and need to get moving on it.

all my life ive wanted to live in Cali, its probably the greatest place around.

but in the past 4 years or so Banff / a ski town has taken over.

and now in the past year Toronto has really made a run, it would mean living in a polluted/ rammed butthole of a city, but its pretty awesome here. I guess other cities are good too, but i know this one.

hbu?

Seattle, or the north west somewhere. Finish up school in boulder, live in a ski town (summit county somewhere, whistler, bozeman, idk) and eventually make my way back to the north west

I want to be playing the amped 2 laax level on xbox while sitting in my warm condo in laax switzerland getting free government supplied heroin twice a day from their heroin assisted treatment program

I'm hoping to be able to stay in Seattle. I just can't get over how green everything is and how there are two mountain ranges and the ocean so close by. In my opinion, it can't get much better than this.

I'm considering Seattle as a possible future home. I'm sure you get this a lot, but how does the cloudy weather/rain affect you? Or is it not as bad as it is made out to be?

Well I've only been living here for two months (lived in NY all my life before this) and honestly, it's not bad at all. I'd actually be comfortable saying that NY gets more rain than we get here, especially when it comes down to heavy, soaking rain vs. a light drizzle.

i've always been conflicted too

i've lived on the east coast all my life so naturally i want to live out west since that's where all the good skiing is but i know that eventually i'll regret living so far away from all of my family

i will undoubtedly live in a ski town for a few years after college but after that i have no idea

I hate big cities but they seem to offer the best job opportunities. I want something under 100k and good access to outdoor amenities.

I've been living on the west coast way too damn long where it just rains all the time. I want to move to Kelowna/Peachland area. The Okanagan interior pretty much. Right on lake Okanagan.

I've spend a year of my youth living in Monaco, it's ugly from a distance and hurts the architect and designer in me but as a place to live it is otherwise amazing.

And the climate is amazing, always around 23-25 degrees in the summer with a very mild sea-breeze, it's warm without melting you.

Preferably in a safe, wealthy suburb with an excellent school system that's close to a decent sized city with a fun downtown area. Warm, sunny weather and a nearby body of water wouldn't hurt either.

If you can embrace life without a garden look a post above at Monaco.

Also the Alps are just a four hour drive away, and what a glorious drive that is.

I'm dealing with the same problem. I graduate in December with a BA and have no idea what I want to do with my life. I live in Columbus, OH right now, which is an awesome city... but I want to be somewhere out west, I just don't know where or what I'm going to do.... growing up is hard

I think it would be cool to live in an airpark. One of my dad's coworkers lived at kelly airpark, but that is pretty much in the middle of nowhere

Or Durango for skiing

boston is the shit but I kinda want to live somewhere where theres better skiing for a while. Like vancouver

The secure option while having skiing around with job opportunites would be salt lake. The fuck it all option would be somewhere outside of anchorage alaska

Yeah Calgary is actually an awesome city, I left for a couple years but I really missed it, so now I'm back. Its going to be a great place to be over the next few decades, the oil industry is expected to grow by like %1000 in the next 10 years or something, so there are lots of jobs. And with so many jobs and so much money, its inevitable that there'll be a lot of cultural growth here, because people have money to spend on that kind of stuff. Calgary already has the only Philharmonic Orchestra in Canada that can turn a profit.

I'll probably live here for a long time unless I have to leave for work. I'd love to live in interior BC at some point though. Maybe retire in Kelowna or something.

Near water is a necessity. My family has had a boat all my life and that is something that will never change in my life. Lake Tahoe sounds really nice, never been though. And that's more of a current desire, not really long term. I've spent summers on Long Island Sound and Lake Champlain, both have their plus / minuses, I like both.

I really like Southern California but might end up in Sacramento or DC for work. Would prefer SacTown for proximity to Tahoe.

Either London or Oslo/Bærum. Spent two years in Wimbledon growing up and I really enjoyed it there. Some parts of Oslo and the surrounding areas are amazing though, skiing is just 20 minutes away, one can go swimming or boating in the oslo fjord, there are plenty of restaurants and it's my home city. I hope to move to France when I retire, love the atmosphere and climate and I speak some french as well.

Ya'll are missing out on the true Washington experience. I have grown up in a smallish farming community at the base of the Cascade mountains an hour out from Mt. Rainier and I fucking love it here. Less than an hour from Seattle, ski resorts, and anything else in WA you might wanna do. Beautiful foothills to explore/hike/bike and shit. And arguably one of the most beautiful and friendly place ever. Summer is here is tits.

That being said, I wanna explore the world. I honestly want to live in a many countries as possible and visit everywhere that I can, and then come back to Enumclaw to raise a family unless I like Bozeman so much when I go for college then I'll go back there.

So Cal, Jamestown RI, Hamptons, Monaco, NYC.

It's weird, 2 years I would've said Utah or Colorado to ski, but lately I've had barely any desire to ski. Skiing probably won't be a factor in where I go to college, I love it, but something just changed.

I could totally see myself living in the Oregon/Washington/BC area for a while. NYC is fucking great as well too.

Other than that: somewhere in Japan would be pretty amazing. §

You don't need a job to live in Banff, but it's pretty hard to find a place to rent if you don't have a job, and it's tough to get a job if you don't have a place to live. Catch 22.

After growing up in Kamloops, and spending a few years working all over the province of BC, I'm pretty happy spending my winters in Golden, and my summers at work in Calgary. And any weekends I get off I go back to Golden as well. Like this weekend coming up.
