Hot wax my skis?

I am living in dorms at school and am unable to wax my skis in my room (carpet floors) I asked the front desk and they have told me I will be evicted and/or fined if I wax on the dormitory property. This has led me to wonder where I am able to wax my skis in a town? I really just need a power outlet and two chairs.

Before anyone says go to a shop, no money.
 
your dorms bathroom?

put an old towel under your skis?

Have your roomate lay naked under the skis while you wax to catch all the drops with his mouth
 
you don't know anyone with a work bench? Perhaps it's time to make friends off campus.
 
I don't think covering the floor would work, considering that wax smells like a bitch. Pretty hard to get away with that in a dorm.
 
thats why you get an old newspaper, cover the floor, wax, and pick up and throw out the newspaper when you're done. Smell is on paper, paper is in trash, trash is not in said dorm, no smell.

its really not to tough to figure out. you could probably even do it at the mountain's shop if you really needed to and i doubt they would say no. those places are covered with wax and shit
 
It's not the actual wax that smells, it's the smell the wax makes when it gets heated up. That shit stinks and spreads pretty easily. It's gonna be hard to cover that up in an area like a dorm.
 
But without proof he waxed them in his room there is no way they can no he did. He simply has to blame the smell on the wax itself, the people at the front counter dont need to know details just tell them you had high quality wax and it smells funky. smell problem sloved.
 
i don't know what wax you use or how you use it, but when i wax, it's pretty much odorless ....
 
Thanks for all the advice, I think I may try and get a tarp or garbage bags to catch the wax, then just do it out back of the building (no cameras)
 
Jesus dude, they arent gonna be that tight about this shit, "no cameras" do you honestly think theyre gonna do something about you waxing skis?
 
Yeah, they are really strict about this stuff, combine that with a 5,000 deposit on the room (not given back to you if evicted) I dont feel like risking 10,000 (5000 deposit + 5000 rent) Just because I thought they wouldn't care
 
Get your friends to start a meth lab in the neighboring dorm. Rat them out, then wax your skis while they are being busted. Problem solved.
 
I live in a apartment and all I do is put like 3-4 trash bags under the skis to catch the wax when I scrap it off. Hell, you could just wax inside and scrape outdoors to minimize dried wax getting on the carpets. Even if you scrape inside just vacuum it up afterwards. I've never smelt wax that smelled bad really. I'd take ski wax over a candle anyday. If you're super paranoid just put a towel under the door and a plastic bag over the fire alarm but that's really unnecessary.
