Where are they now?

Skiing legends come and go. Some enjoy eternal fame, others fade into oblivion.

This is for the legends that seem to have faded away from skiing limelight. Whether it’s by choice, or the natural way of time.. nothing gold can stay.

Skiers like Steezy Brogeezy are brought up frequently in these discussions. However, I’d like to start things off on a different note with an old favorite… Big Air Dave. Where the hell is he now?:

Probably an accountant with kids that goes to his timeshare in Breckinridge every other year

I remember seeing a chart of landing position once and it was like “gucci plateau” and then the flats were “big air Dave”. Did not realize the connection

Ian compton did an interview a few years back. He was doing the homestead thing in Vermont. Kinda sad seeing him ripping mt snow all the time for years. I know he had an injury to hos foot or leg, hopefully he's able to get out a bit these days though.

Does anyone know if Stefan Thomas still rides? His short-but-banger-only ender part in Turbo was so amazingly stylish, still looks incredible today.

I used to ride at big air Dave’s home resort. He dropped off the face of the earth about a year after all those videos dropped. Never to be seen again

He's probably still on his way down from his biggest air yet

He had the opener in Long Story Short too. Sort of a level 1 staple for a few years it seems like.

Looks like people have been asking that question for years now lol

I saw a video of him a couple years ago and he is doing all sorts of woodworking and skiing at a local resort with a tractor engine for a rope tow motor lol

Thats sick!!! I think I remember he was getting into woodworking or making knives or something. Thats dope that he's skiing still!! Backyard ropetow life doesn't sound bad at all

He was on dumont podcast awhile ago. He’s doing the LA thing trying to make it from what I remember (this was like 2 years ago).

Random story but I was in a semi-famous (kinda dumpy) diner in Charleston, sc when I overheard someone at another table say “we had this pro skier stay with us. Colby James west. Dude was a douchebag”. I was like “???”

Seth was actually just on with the inspired guys recently for those NS live streams. Maybe it was with b dog? I’ll have to find it. Lives somewhere in BC, skates and skis a ton I think

Real question, what are Chug and Totally Trevor up to?

Mountain Gazette did a 16-page career retrospective piece on Seth for issue 198. Long story short, he's living in the mountains near Crested Butte. He's done enough, and we can leave him alone.

Good for him as well as the many others who stepped away from the game to pursue their own version of peace and solitude. I can't imagine how much pressure those dudes felt from the industry back then cuz it doesn't seem any easier nowdays

Pretty sure he went back to school got a degree and is living the normal life. I know Berman mentions why he stopped filming in either the turbo or real-time podcast from a few years back.

Ian still gets out I see him at bush every once in a while. He can still shred I think he just chose to pursue his woodworking stuff and was kinda done with the pressure of filming. I definitely miss seeing him on TC and the Weak but can't blame him for choosing a more laid back lifestyle.

Hung out with Stefan in PC recently. He's still skiing, just off the grid/under the radar. Isn't a fan of social media and the limelight I guess.
