Where are my Taos homies?!

Ayo! Taos is my home hill. I’ll be up there all winter for sure. Seeing all the other peeps posting here we should definitely have some NS meet ups

Helllll yeah let’s do it

Just wanted to drop by and share

Last season i chased a storm down there. Was like a 3-4 foot storm or some shit. Big storm.

It was the best pow day ive had in like 2 or 3 seasons, fucking deep ass snow and dope terrain. It was the dry snow too like in Utah.

Hiked some ridge or some shit legit right after they opened it and it was fucking amazing. Was roughly 10th in line on the hike and it was a big ridge. Hit like a 10 or 15 foot drop towards the top and proceeded to trench my way down with a face full of snow. Also ate shit and lost my poles earlier in the day so i felt like a complete fucking G skiing pow with my boatskis and no poles. 11/10 day at Taos.

^ similar story to homie two posts above - i hit a massive storm there this winter with my 3 free days from the a-basin pass. was some of the best skiing of my life. like chest deep light ass pow in some of the sickest inbounds terrain ive ever ridden. will be back this year for a similar storm chase

Hell yeah that was an epic storm cycle!! Skiing was soooo sooo good all that week

That was definitely a storm to remember, especially considering how bad last winter was until then. Only downside was it felt like all of Colorado came down to party too, never seen lines in the west basin hike that before.

Some shameless self-whoring from that storm:

Love to see the self-whoring, you got some good hits in there homie!

Ain't much yet, but Juarez is open, couple rails set up, and a few fun side hits on the backside. Anyone skiing Taos this weekend?

My pass is blacked out this week but I’m doing the locals class so I’ll be up the next 6 Saturdays after that for sure, plus other random days. We definitely need to go shred!!

I'm headed up tomorrow too btw which shouldn't be blacked out. I should be out of town from 12/30 until 1/9 or so I'll miss the next couple Saturdays after this one :(

Any street spots in the Taos area? Moving there for the winter

There's a lot of hilly areas and potential spots but none that I know of that are hit regularly. Not a huge street skiing scene up this way. But the homies do set up some rails up in the woods behind the ski area every winter.

bumping cuz I want more info on the area cuz I might go patrol at Red River.

Super dope area. I love it up here. Tons of great skiing but not too crowded. Weather is comparatively mild with incredible bluebird sunshine days. When the snow is good at Taos the skiing there is as good as anywhere I've ridden. Red River is a nice mid-size mountain and has the best park program in the state. The CEO is a younger dude that rips so he puts resources into a legit park. The town is a little Texan/Oklahoman-heavy but still pretty charming. It's the one place in NM where you can ski right down onto main street so that's rad. Also there is a slopeside dispensary across from one lift so it gets major points for being the most weed-accessible ski area in the world. Hit me up if you want more info.

Yeeeeww ahah tao homieeess ahah yeah super dope ahah yeah jah bless ahah let's go rriiiide yeah ahah can't wait to hit the pow with ma big oneps ahah

taos is a nut house, like 1/2 the conversations i had with randos there we end up talking about some UFO gang stalking vaccine shit. cool ass mountain tho

What’s the cheapest shop to get skis mounted in the Taos area?

Not sure about Taos proper, but if you’re based out of Santa Fe I’d go to ski tech. There’s another local shop and an rei that can do a tune/wax, but ski tech is the only one of the three that I really trust with my bindings. Plus they’re rad guys.

edit: just saw you said cheapest, not best. I think all comparable and all way cheaper than a new ACL.

I’m in Taos proper but I’ll probably take a trip to Santa Fe soonish, thanks for the suggestion. Definitely looking for good quality but I’m not trying to pay $80 for a mounting at a resort shop

I make the drive from Breck a couple times a season. Lucky to have friends with a badass place in Arroyo Seco. What a freaking fun mountain....

You should definitely go to LeSki Mastery, it's up in Taos Ski Valley. The owner Alain knows what he is doing, and I have gotten all of my skis mounted from there. Been there for 30+ years and all of the family works at the shop.
