Where are my fucked up teeth homies at

Did a number on the teeth today. Shoutout to the cannon rail at my local. Super lucky to have ended up with just the teeth and virtually nothing else. People who've chipped their teeth pretty bad, how long before you could bite into stuff with the front teeth again? If you got them filled/bonded, was it back to normal pretty quick or did eating take a minute? Breathing in is kinda killing em rn

I have a very similar break across my two front teeth which are now capped. I hate to break it to you, but I havent bitten down using my front teeth since it happened 13 years ago. Everything gets either cut up (apples, corn on the cob etc) or I just stick it into the side of my mouth and eat using my back teeth. They break off every couple years from random things you cant really escape like a stray piece of overcooked bacon in a sandwich or burnt pizza crust, but its not too bad to get them back on. Good luck, you got this.
 
Also it might be because my break was so high up and flat across that its pretty hard for the caps to get a strong grip so yours might be different and be stronger. Also another huge thing to do is make sure there isnt any trauma in your gums/ the roots of the teeth. I had my gums swell up above my teeth a few years ago because it randomly got infected and I had to get a root canal to fix it. It was one of the most painful things I've experienced.
 
I broke my 2 front teeth as a kid when the struts on a truck topper gave out and the falling glass smashed my face into the tailgate when I was looking over it. About 10 years later the caps popped off and needed redone, that was about 10 years ago so they're probably due again.

One cap is just bonded to the tooth the other is a root canal where they put a screw in to form the veneer over. I don't notice it really but there is a line you can see the difference in color between the cap and the tooth.
 
Biting anything cold or hot with my front teeth sucks now, but other than that you won't be thinking about it 90% of the time. Brush your teeth well so that the break line doesn't show.
 
Did a similar thing hitting my mtb handlebars. My moms a dental hygienist so she knows the best dentists to do work on them, its really worth the effort to find a doctor that is really good with bonding work if you want them to stay on. But as said before they will probably never feel as good as they did before unless your nerve is really short. My nerve is freakishly long so its harder to fully recover and not notice it.

Happened to me too this year but it was from not wearing my mouth piece in football and letting it dangle off my face mask. I got them capped and it hurts to bite with them and it’s been 4 months and I don’t think they’ll ever be the same lol. Good luck

I was playing football on a tile floor dove and caught cuz I'm good at football landed on the tile just fine then my cousin jumped on my head and broke my tooth off it hurt to breathe with mine and that's a sign of needing a root canal like me.

I always wore my mouth guard and was super careful of my teeth but still ended up chipping them somehow lol, not bad at all tho luckily
 
Depending on how hard you hit them, they’ll likely discolour and devitalise over time- realistic treatment plans will probably include root canals and crown/ incisal wrap veneers. In my mouth I’d go with the crown option, it’ll have more ‘ferrule’ or surface area to grip onto.

bonding might be a good intermediate step, but bonded composites don’t have good resistance to the forces you put your front teeth through, lots of lateral tearing forces as opposed to vertical compression forces.

whatever you do, it’ll be more prone to breaking down than natural teeth, so get a sports guard as well for park stuff. Don’t want to have to pay for all this more than once

Landed chin-first on concrete, fractured my jaw in 5 places and shatteted several teeth. Be thankful your jaw is intact, having your mouth wired shut for 2 months is not a good time.

Not even soft stuff? Like apples, corn, crusty bread, that all makes sense, but what about like a taco or burger or something

Yeah not really, for burgers and stuff I’ll kind of put it in my mouth but sort of tear a bite off with my side teeth. The pulling motion can kind of rip them out apparently although it’s never happened to me yet.

Damn, I can't say I'm looking forward to it. I guess not a huge deal but definitely going to have to be careful it sounds like. Feeling lucky it was just my teeth but wish I was just smart about the in run and didnt put myself in this spot in the first place lmao

How exactly did you get em fixed/what do you mean by capped? Talked to my dentist, think I'm going bond for now but tbd

Yuup. Accidentally bit the tip of my ski a few years back. Knocked one tooth fully out and broke the other in half. The half was a quick fix but the implant took over a year until it was fully done, so be thankful you dont have to deal with that. I dont bite apples anymore but other than that they work fine
 
I fucked up mine on New Year’s Day pretty bad. You probably won’t be able to bite on them for a long time. It’s been over a month and I’m still having surgeries to fix it all and can’t eat normal yet.
