When Injured...

I've been out the past two full seasons with injuries (broken collar bone, broken finger, broken arm) and havent skied in over a year. What do you do when you're craving skiing but by the time you're healthy again its summer?

Pick up skateboarding, the learning curve is pretty brutal at first but after a couple months you'll be so glad you started.

or NZ of course, but friends of mine who've done seasons there say the snow kind of blows.

Anyone know how the snow is in the Andes?

I actually skated for 6 years and i quit. biggest reason was i hated skaters. they piss me off with their judgement and the community shoelace-belt-wearing douches. skateboarding isnt a big happy family like it used to be

Wait what? Did you break them all at once?

Broken finger alone is no reason to stop skiing for more than like 2 weeks.

You can ski on a broken Collar bone just be careful... i'm going skiing friday and i broke mine 4 weeks ago

also

a sunny afternoon from goodie pocket films on Vimeo.

But like everyone said tramp diving boards anything to get in the air. Also longboarding and skating maybe surfing

No, all separate incidences. I broke my collarbone skiing black diamond groomers and fell on it at high speeds. The finger was actually from playing dodgeball in my office at work with some of my coworkers (i work at state farm, shit's dope) and the arm was on christmas day 2011 trying to hit a switch 5 on blades haha.

And doc ruled me out for the season last year with my collarbone and this season with my arm. chances of reinjury were/are too high.

I go to the doctor tomorrow to figure out what I did to my knee 3 weeks ago. thought it would get better. but it's not.

so I just sit around and wallow in my own self misery and defeat.

or just drink.

Whaaaa? Do you have osteoporosis or madly fragile bones or something? Or were they super gnarly breaks? Because generally speaking a healed fracture is stronger than the original bone, due to the extra bone formation around it. Shit I missed my follow-up appointment for a broken wrist because I was away skiing.

Really, out for 2 seasons from a couple of upper-body breaks, ouch.

haha well nothing is fundamentally wrong with shoelace belts. it just kinda represents that at times the fashion and the trends and "dressing the part" is more important than just going out and skating and having fun with it. idk how the scene is out in your area but im from phoenix which has a pretty serious skate scene and its pretty much full of up and coming (admittedly, very talented) douchebag skaters that have their own crew and ostracize all who aren't cool/good enough to be in it.

seriously? you broke a finger and that kept you from doing anything?

from what you said, you sound very protective of your body, whihc will be a good thing 30 years from now. But seriously, a broken finger was an issue for you?

i just got out with sprained ankle and i just started to watch battlestar galactica. i think that will fill my time nicely. but to be honest im not bummed to not be skiing, seeing as there is no snow and all. we aren't missing much
