When does sunshines big park open???

Does anybody have any idea what the deal is with this? Saw them pushing a ton of snow and what not last week but any updates?
 
We are looking at MAYBE ( and i stress this) Saturday. We have had some cat problems resulting from the cold, this has pushed back our build a little bit. If you come out, and take a ride by the park you can see what we have in mind for this first big build.
Yes we keep all park zones right until closing. That means upper, Grizzly, and Funland to the left.
To the kid who says we are lazy, come and spend just one day with us. I honestly think you have no idea what it takes to build a real park.
 
hey dude, what are your plans for the jumps this year? you should try to build a bigger version of the jump you made right at the end of last season, the last one in the lower park.
one of the best jumps you guys have ever put together, was really fun for the sunset shoot, if it was bigger or right after the Big you have in the top park it would be sick!
 
Not only is it the sickest Park East of Whistler, it's also the best maintained. Hell, anybody knocking Shine's park just doesn't know how good they have it.

Keep up the good work, SSV park crew. Fuck the haters with your boots on.
 
According to their website, the lower half is opening saturday. I'm makin the trek from saskatoon tonight hopefully be hittin er herd tomorrow
 
i know.....its what i keep hearing from everybody i talk to. I think that is the plan for the lower park. We have a few jumps in there now, schould work out pretty good. I think for those of you who have no yet made the trek out to even peak what we have put in will be totally shocked. The set up in completely different then last year. Some of the features are just plain retarded.
So if your up tomorrow come by the park, im going to be the guy in on the moment bibbys, with the giro G-10 helmet. Come and say hi, tell me what you think.
 
I've been cruising past it a fair amount over the past few days in anticipation and it is looking sicker by the day. Keep up the good work, I cannot wait to get some laps done.
 
sick, i cant wait to see the park, i am home in 3 weeks after living in australia for 5 months, cant wait to ski!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I spent some time over at divid this morning, but the park wasnt open yet. it sure looks sick though. I can't wait to hit that s box at the top, it just looks plain dirty. If its open tomorrow ill be the guy on the old orange chronics with a black giro encore helmet and dumont goggles
 
sorry....another delay guys. Just troubles with some of the features, and having to work them a little bit perfect. We are 100% for sure open tomorrow.
 
no worries I still have 2 more days here and theres enough stashed around to get er done. Anything is better than saskatchewan
 
got to ride the park today. good good times to be had. some fun jibs setup including a HUGe butter box thats quite the feature for first build. jumps are looking money the big ones weren't open yet but look about the same as last year if not a tad higher (not longer just lips are higher).
overall a great first park for alberta. the features are predominantly set up so that the rider has his or her way of hitting it ie. rails with quarters on the side to stall on/tap. wider lips for features that could be used as disaster or just normal rail. really a lot of creativity is to be had in the park.
MLB will fill you in on the logistics and sizes of everything in a bit when he gets home from the hill.
 
The only reason I even came on NS today was to login and hit to forum to give the Sunshine Park Crew a fucking HUGE pat on the back. I was in the park yesterday and RIGHT NOW, it's pretty much as good if not BETTER than it's ever been......in DECEMBER, no less. Fuck yes. Some amazing features that have never been seen in AB....and maybe any Canadian park. Not sure.

In terms of variety and gnar (maybe not size), it's up there with even Whistler's park right now I bet.

Thats all the features we have up right now. There are more features going into the upper park. We are also starting work on our lower park. Look for tons more huge creative features, a well as a great beginner progressive line. Thanks for coming out, and come say hi to your local MFTPC.

 
i really dont like to hate, but i was there for a weekend in april last year. there were good features, but nothing was maintained at all. took til like 11 for the park to open, there was stupid skidoo tracks everywhere, no lip was raked pretty much all day, ruts everywhere, while there was at least 5 guys in yellow park crew coats sitting down at the end of the first half of the park doing shit all for most of the day. im sorry, but the place was a joke for the whole weekend. i wasnt impressed at all. im not hating on it for no reason, i just had a bad experience there. ill be making alot of spring trips to sunshine, im hoping the park will be in better shape when im back.

I skied there everyday last April and don't remember anything even close to what you have said.

It is pretty hard to avoid ruts in soft spring snow.

Where do you ski where the park is better than Sunshine? It's absurdly good, and well maintained.

Don't come in the Spring, please stay home.

I have never seen Panorama's full park. I was their too early in the season. How does it compare to Sunshine?
 
Its not currently in existence, but it will be before january rolls around. If you want to ride park I would recommend sunshine over pano for sure. Only thing with shine is lap time, but the setup is way better there and everything is built better.
 
second big jump? you fucking serious? just because your a tiny little skier with no weight and no balls to take the first jump big dont mean you can bash the second jump which is pure gold.
if anything the first jump is wack.
 
did someone die in the park today? is saw some pics a friend had taken at shine from today and they said the park closed down and then there was a heli that flew in to take some one out, any idea what happened?
 
nose first into the snow apparently. they think he died for a couple seconds before patrol got there. they say he was out cold for atleast 30 minutes. they did cpr and stuff. has 3 broken (?) vertebrae, brain hemerage, and i can't remember what else. But yea stars was there pretty sure. i didnt hear the chopper and i was at goats eye which is weird..
 
A snowboarder apparently. Overshot the smaller step down and caught his nose which threw him onto his face/head. I hope he makes a full and quick recovery, I hate seeing shit like that.
 
Sucks about the guy, hope he makes a quick recovery... was just gonna say i hit the park the other day and props to the crew the booters where perfect!
 
Yeah, starts March 20th. $240, unrestricted riding. Unbelievable! 64 days of riding till close.

the first jump is the best it has ever been. They actually built some boot into it finally. The second is the same as always, you just have to make sure to take the first one smallish though if you want speed for the second. That or skip the first one altogether if you want to go deep on the second.
