I have been on the mountain a lot lately. And I see more and more people on 1080s. I am not talking about our type or park skiiers, but old people and rental types. So it seems like they are being used more and more as all around skis. I am not saying they are not great skis, but it seems weird that they seem to be the preferred rental of old people.

 
some ski patrolers were rockin em yesterday. but then again i saw another patroler on armadas ARVs today

Its an average ski that would be good for casual skiers not gettin to the slopes to often a season. But if ur getting out 30+ times a season def not ur ski!

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

my buddy made his 1080's in to his tele skis and they are dope. good use for a otherwise useless ski.

i've seen like 50 year olds at killington on AR5's why i have no clue but they were rocking them on the lift in front of me.

 
yea ive seen alotta 30-40 year old male skiers riding 1080s. they just carve down the hill but theyve still got the twin tip ski. theres also this super good chick at our hill who rips it up on a pair of 1080s

I got my 1080's before last season, and they are real flexible. Hopefully I will break them this year so I can get another new pair through salomon. They are nice in the bumps and woods, but for carving they are soft and I am only starting to get into park. I got them because hey were on sale.

Dont be supprised. Most twin tips companies (Armada & Line mainly) are putting the press on shops to sell more twin tips to all mountain skiers. The reason being that they need sales...I ski company cant survive on just one niche market. (example...Line moved to twin tips from ski boards, and is now making race skis and all mountain skis that just happen to have a twintip in addition to dedicated 'this was designed as a park ski' twintips).

 
still dont understand all the 1080 hate, i liked mine well enough for skiing east coast. but yeah, you see old people on them cuz they hold a rediculous edge, ive put perfect railroad tracks on trails riding regular and switch. So for groomers they rip, and the flex is nice if youre learning. But a 30+ day season (like mine was last year) will kill them, or even a day doing hopturns on steep shit. I went out west, and on the second day there they had become noodles. And if you ski backseat at all in steeps prepare for a selfarrest.... goodtimes

i say thoes 1080's were useless because they are the first generation of 1080's and are super soft by then and the only thing he was learning was tele at the time. and also I don't like foam skis because they tend to break down and lose pop more then wood skis.

old people with twin tip skis is like having of 4wheel drive mud tires and what not when you only drive the highway and dont get snow in your area, a complete waist, also then if more people buy them then they will make more and old people buy the shitty kinds and sweatshop labor built (salomon) so then then the world is filled with more bad skis

Pretty much everyone who snowboards has one with two tips, but most people only go forward. As freeskiing becomes more popular, more and more recreational skis will have twin tips.

who cares i say the more people who buy twins the better it is for the industry EVERY SINGLE older person ive asked if they liked their twin tips they have given NOTHING but positive responses it was awesome. The more twins out there the bigger twin tip skiing will become.

A lot of twins are good all mountain skis, and most people want one pair of skis they can use all the time, so they buy twins. At the end of the day it means more companies will invest in them so we'll get better skis.

god your a deusche. but i agree. with you. 1080s are a great ski for the recreational rider. i garentee you sking will very soon be like snowboarding, where almost all skis are twintipped. they are easier to carve on (a twin tip lets the ski come out of a turn smoother), fun for the beginner to play around on, and are cooler to them, because they see us ripping on them, and by them getting twins, its them showing respect and desire to us. so yeah, it would be gay for someone who is just your average joe to be on t-halls or some other jib specific ski, but there are no reason they shouldnt be allowed to ride them. and if you guys want the industry to grow, this is the kind of thing that comes with it. just take it with a grain of salt, and laugh it off. i saw a guy last year who was in his mid 30s on 1080s, and he was havin a blast. shure, he wasnt the best, but he was throwin nice 3s, skiing fakie, and tring some easy rails. twin tips are the revolution of the ski industry, and everyone will be on them, from pros to begginers.

It's sad when we're getting to the point where we don't want other people to ski just because they are 'posers' who aren't good enough by our standards. Sorry that your almighty ass can pull cab 12's and cork 810's to rails, but not everybody is that good. This debate has come up several times, so I'm not going to get into it further. Twintips are eventually going to be the norm and regular skis the exception, just like alpine boards and normal snowboards. As far as I'm concerned, anybody can buy any twintip they want, it could be somebodys first year and if they want to buy T-Halls or MSPs, be my guest. That just gives those companies and our sport more money and exposure.

ok well the 1080 cr are amazing and less than 200 people have them and why the hating you should be happy all these posers are getting these skis at first I was a little pissed of but guess what the companies get more money and the whole world of free skiing expands when there are more and more people riding twin tips you make think its a waist but the companies dont mind and you shouldnt the people who should care are those suckers you see riding them on the bunny hills who are wasting like $600 on skis.
