When and why did you start skiing?

I know most of you probably grew up skiing at like age 3 but for me it was just 2 or 3 trips a year and that was it. What made you want to take it to the next level? For me it was a pow day at alta which just made me think woah I want more of this and ever since then im up on the mountains pretty constantly, what made you guys actually start skiing?

Wanted to get into sledding after watching a loads of sled neck videos. Wanted to buy a sled with my own cash and dad said "Not gonna happen, expensive moneypits." then through related videos on YouTube I got to some ski edits, and that's what made me want to ski. I was 14. INB4 Coolstorybro.

yup i was like 3 parents got me into it they are both bigger backcountry skiers, then did a little time ski racing realized that stuff wasn't for me and went back to big mountain and now just the past few seasons i have started to get into park...

My mom skied with me in her womb then my dad started shredding with me in a baby back pack thing when i was a few months old. I was about 2 when I started doing it on my own

4, my mom put me in the ski school (much against my will) so she could have a break from me and ski with her friends. I hated it for the first 2 years but after that something clicked and Ive loved it for the past 9 years.

Parents taught me. I was 2 (I had been walking around the yard in shitty plastic skis before then though)

at 2 because my parents kept pushing it. campgaw nj was my first time ever skiing, local hill for 7 years, hell I practically grew up there. I go back there now and realize its the smallest place ever.

I cross country skied for a long time, and never did downhill because my parents didn't want me to, and I didn't know any better. Then in 7th grade I went on a couple of trips with my schools ski club, and I was hooked.

you guys didn't start skiing at fucking 2. gimme a break, your still learning how to walk and talk, let alone ski. Anyway I started when I was 4, parents..same deal with ski school and all

i didn't get into it until i was 18. first year of college. i always grew up with a ton of sports and shit to do, so i could never ski because i was so busy. once i got into college, i wanted something to do in the winter and skiing has always been an interest of mine. as soon as i started, i picked if up fast and pretty much sky rocketed my skill level in just a couple seasons. i love this sport and i want it in my life for as long as i can have it.

parents taught me when i was like 3 or 4 and last season when i was 13 i really started to ski a lot more and go in the park and such

I started just about three years ago. I saw an episode of Traveling Circus, thought skiing looked fun, and rented a pair of skis within the month.

watched xgames big air on tv when i was 13... i taught myself downhill then i thought park looked cool so i started that this year

17. Always wanted to ski but was playing hockey my whole life during winters. Started after high school when I stopped playing hockey. Wish I started way younger

started 4 or 5 raced for too many years, quit, now my mom wont stop bitching cause she cant understand why i just dont go down a normal hill, the hill is 300 ft vertical maximum.

I'm trying to get my brother (13) into it but he's one of those kids who just wants to sit in the lodge and eat... I never remember doing that any of you start out hating it?

9 or 10 I learnt because I was going on a skiing holiday with my family.

I started park around 14.

Family went once a year when i was 7-14. Then started going with school club and hanging out with boarders who got me into park.

2, maybe 3 years old. My dad was a ski instructor, and when I was little I would always go to the mountain and just hang out in the instructor's room while he was teaching, and then I guess at some point he decided to take me out and go skiing. I guess I've pretty much been hooked since then.

18, months old dad is one of those psia guys so i started with racing and stuff till i was like 12-13 then fell into the park now i ski 6 days a week

Well "Learning how to ski at 2" can be used very loosely in my situation. Basically one day when it was 40 degrees out they took me and my sis outside to the beginner slope at SR and taught us how to make snowballs, snow-angels, other winter stuff, then had us take 1 or 2 runs on skis while they were holding us up, then we went back inside for hot chocolate. And that was the whole season for me. I think it was more of an introduction then actually skiing, probably the same for everyone else who said 2.

Went for 3-5 days as the family holiday annually, really got into it last year because I've been living out of home for a while now and realised how much I loved it/missed it. I'm 23 now.

8 or 9 years old... there was a ski trip to my local hill, and I had never been skiing before so I went with a bud. Hooked ever since, but the first three seasons of my skiing were horrible before I started racing and park

16 or 17, I got a lot of boardfriends back then.. i did inlines when i was a kid and didn't bother to learnd to shred board.. No regrets! All my board frinds quit boarding, now they're all behind camera, making skate and ski edits!

At I think 5 years old, my father told me at gunpoint with his 12 gauge, "you fuckin ski or by god I will blow your damn brains out all over these walls.". So I skied.

13. Some people might disagree, but to me skiing had a better atmosphere than snowboarding (I snowboard 2 years prior).
