One man critical following a game of beer pong

SALT LAKE CITY — A drinking game involving ping pong ended early Thursday with one man suffering critical injuries after his opponent, his roommate, allegedly assaulted him with a baseball bat.

About 2:30 a.m. police were called to a local hospital on a report of a 21-year-old man who was attacked with a bat. The investigation led officers to a house at 1963 S. 1200 East.

Detectives learned there had been a party at that location earlier in the evening, and two roommates were playing beer pong when they got into an argument. The argument got physical, said Salt Lake police detective Dennis McGowan, and the roommate went to his room to retrieve a bat, came back and hit the victim twice in the head and once in the abdomen.

Steven Skolsky, 21, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault.
 
On a somewhat related note, a guy my dad works with was drunk and woke up in the middle of the night to his wife and other co worker sleeping together on his couch. In his drunken stupor, he became enraged and grabbed his samurai sword (he apparently collects them) and hacked at his now ex-friend. He missed twice and chased him down the street. Once he became tired, he came back and beat/choked his wife until the cops arrived. He was charged with 4th degree assault and some other shit and got out with $40,000 bail and was at work five days later.
