Whats your skiing day like?

Hey guys, so since skiing season has started/is about to start for most of us, I wanted to know whatyour day like when you go skiing?

for example... I sleep at my best friends house the night before wake up at 4 take the ski bus for 3 and a half hours and get to the mountain... stop at the shop for people to rent their stuff and then make our way up to the slopes, go around the mountain a bit of park/pow/groomers and then to the chalet to have a HUGE meal. At 3:15 the bus leaves so we ski down to the car park go on the same 3 and a half hour drive back home, get showered and go out clubbing or just to a bar :)
please if you think this thread is stupid dont hate, just dont bother.
p.s used the searchbar got nothing so just made this, if there is another thread on this I apologize.

Stay up the night before waxing and stuffing my duffle with all my gear. I check and double check to make sure I have everything because I can never sleep thanks to anticipation. I forgot my ski boots one time and had to drive back 30 minutes in. Super gay.

Wake up at 6. Stop at McDonalds for breakfast. Hit the highway at 6:30, arrive at 8:30 at the mountain in time for a decent spot in the lift line!

Shred the mountain to begin with typically because everything is hard as shit in the morning. Park is too sketchy and icy early.

Around 12 or 1 we take a break for a bite to eat. Typically cheese and bread because it's cheap and sticks to you followed by a Kerns Nectar for blood sugar and because they are bomb :)

Hit the lift line and lap the park for a few hours when the snow is nice and soft.

Around 3 we'll probably hit a few more runs for some cool down laps just for fun.

We make it a goal never to have "just one more run" only because shit ALWAYS goes wrong on your last run.

Leave mountain. Catch Taco Bell on the way out. Go home.

pow days=wake up early, grab a bite to eat, get picked up or go pick up a friend or two. Get to the mountain hopefully before it opens or just before to get first tracks. Ski until we get tired/hungry then go to the car for a quick break then back up for more skiing. Smoke lots of weed, drink brews and enjoy fresh snow until we cant ski anymore.
normal days=wake up whenever (local hill open from 10am to 10pm) eat, get some beers, drink them on the drive up, smoke some weed, get to the mountain, mess around, have fun, tell jokes, laugh, not really care. Maybe BBQ some burgers or dogs, hang with friends, take laps until night time.
I can ski like 5+ days a week easily with a local hill 30minutes away and for powder we drive a few hours north for the goods.

when skiing indoor i usually wake up whenever i feel like it, then head out in the afternoon, shred 2 hours, have a snack, shred another 2 hours (then depending on how it's going) another 2hthen drive home and stop by a mcdo for a happy meal :) jk, large menu, bigmac and 6 chicken mcnugs, then sleep and dream how i stomp my dub cork 12s

when skiing i'm usually renting a cabin with friends, so i wake up around 7, make breakfast for me and whoever else enjoys schnitzels or chicken nuggets for breakfast and around 8.30 i try being at the lift, when i wake up and i see it's freshies i usually speed up breakfast and stow away some snacks in my backpack and i'm hoping to get first chair at the lift, then i ski non-stop till about 13.00h and i stop to have a snack (regular day i go to the lodge or restaurant) on a powday i just man up and quickly grab a sandwich and eat it on the lift...
on a regular day the afternoon is usually more fooling around, if my GF is there, the afternoon is reserved for her :) (on powdays i don't have a gf ....)

School: wake up at 5:30 and eat oatmeal and a protein shake. get picked up and start driving. stop at a gas station and stock up on munchies/drinks. take a 3.5-5 hr drive to mountain. spark first bowl just at dawn, never stop smoking the rest of the day (keeps me awake as copilot). shred from 9-4. hit up BK or TB or safeway on the way home. get home hit up a homegirl to come over and do all the work.

Home: wake up at 5 on the road at 5:15 with the old man. eat some hostess doughnuts and gatorade at 8. shred til lunch, eat a lil bit, then shred some more. i do the driving home 4 hrs. hit up some homies and grab a brew or 2 at a low key bar.

Get up early, it's usually a bit dark still, and since I'm poor, I can't afford to stay slopeside. Soooo, it's some dingy motel 40 minutes away. Pack my stuff, maybe grab some cereal or the motel's crappy breakfast, then load my stuff in the car. It's usually the stuff I want to keep warm, like my boots and camera.

I'm mostly dressed in my gear, except for the pants. Oh, and it's testicle-shrinking cold outside, and I have to clear the snow from the windshield.

Drive drive drive, stop quickly to get a coffee and I chug it while drive. The smell of coffee has to compete with the smell of my boots, which are getting warmed up.

I'm never in time for first chair, but still get there early enough. Put camera in backpack, pull on said boots, sunscreen, and off I go.

Go until 3 or so, sometimes later. I'm old, so I do stop for a brief lunch (20 minutes) and some water, and then it's right back out. By 3 my energy level is low, I'm getting cold, I'm probably jet-lagged from traveling, and it's time to quit.

Shower after getting back to motel. Dry my gear on the heater, go out for dinner, watch some TV, off to bed. No partying, usually, I'm not really feeling like stepping out in the cold again, and am already pretty tired.

Ski house (sugarloaf): Wake up round 7:30, make a solid breakfast and have some coffee. Place beers in snowbank outside of the house for when we get back from shredding. Grab gear and jump on the trail and ski down to the quad. Few warm up runs then ski the park/bumps/pow whatever. Lunch either at the house or Gepetto's/Bag and Kettle. Ski more. When we get tired, ski back to the house, throw on some street clothes and o wait, yummy cold beer courtesy of Mr. Snowbank. Relax and have some beers, maybe a quick nap or watch some football. Dinner followed by more beers and my hot tub for a bit. Shower, bed, repeat.
College: Wake up ~7 am, get dressed, walk to car, hit the road. Stop at Dunks or gas station for coffee and or snacks/redbull. Arrive before the MTN opens, get booted and suited, then hit the snow. Lunch before 12 or after 1. Ski more, then pack it in around 3. Head back to school for a shower/dinner/nap. Drinking starts early and goes late. Pass out after drinking tons of water. Wake up and repeat.

well since my home mountain is not a mountain, it's a garbage hill in the middle of the city, i can go whenever i want to. usually there all day on weekends and 3/5 weeknights hitting nothin but park because theres nothing else to do but drink 5$ rockstars and eat chunky fries and gravy.

since my season doesnt start for 2 weeks and we're on our 3rd snow day in a row, i've just been hitting urbans and backyard rails for a few hours every day.

I work from 7.30am every day, and get off at 3pm. then i walk home, eat whatever i find in the house, throw my stuff in the car, pick up some buddies and head to the hill. I get there around 4-4.30. Then i just ski non stop till 10.

Wake up round 7-7:30 and check the avie forecast and see how much snow fell. This gauges how much of a hurry I'm in. If conditions are great, my ass is out the door asap, if not I take it easy. Drive to the hill in about 30-45 minutes and ski as long as I can (sometimes I have to get my sister from school). At the hill I normally ski any soft snow I can find. Even if it isn't powder, if it is softer than groomers im there.

Wake, eat, gather ski stuff, drive there, ski all day, usually without eating lunch for some reason, drive home, dinner, video games/computer unless some people still want to do stuff like urban, rinse and repeat.

Last few trips to the french alps have been with my university ski club (going again in 20 days, stoked!) These trips are far more interesting than the other few personal ski trips i go on each year, so ill explain what happens on those... The day goes something like this:

Get up at 7 (most likely still drunk), push whoever is sharing my bed with me out of it (no joke, uni ski trips are notorious for random hookups!), brush teeth, put on outerwear, fill camel pack, pack bag (redbull, oranges, chocolate), get the rest of my buddies to get up. head to the local bakery in resort and pick up a pain (bread)

leave room, head to ski locker, pick up bentchelters (hoping theres pow!) Get to the bottom of the first chair we get to. DRINK water and redbull to hold off the ensuing hangover.

Lifts open at 8:30, sit on chair with mates, chat about whatever the hell happen the night before, get to the top of the chair line, pick up the next lift at the next station, continue as far up as possible. Super stoked and then get some fresh turns down. Then either head backcountry or to the park (dependant on conditions) repeat until lunch, eat packed lunch from backpack, repeat until 5pm.

Get back to apartment, cook evening meal with friends, then straight on the vodka and predrink to the max ( french resort bars are EXPENSIVE) then head out to bars/ clubs and then proceed pick up horny, rich, English/Scandinavian chicks on holiday... then repeat for a whole 7 days!

Day in da life ov a ballah!

Wake up at like 8, throw my gear in the car, eat some breakfast, drive to the hill, cruise some groomers for a while to warm up, lap the park for a bit if there's anything decent set up, go in for lunch/warm-up break, head back out, hit the park a little more, cruise groomers until the end of the day. I usually go with my brother and my dad, and my dad obviously doesn't ski park, so I try not to ditch him too much on the hill.

Waiting on my ACL recovery so I havent been up yet this season, but this is how it usually goes.

Take my goggles, gloves and shit out of my bag the night before so they dry. Wake up around 630 the next morning and throw on some athletic shorts and my ski socks and a tee shirt usually. Start the car and throw my shit back in my bag. Sometimes when I get downstairs my friends will already be waiting for me, but usually I have to wait a couple minutes for the rest of the carload to show up at my house. We all cruise up to Loon and head into the lodge for a minute to throw on our gear and take a bathroom break. Then we usually kill a few groomers before popping into the park for a good sesh, then finish it off with a few summit laps leading into the park.

Wake up early, get dressed, drive to the hill, ski till I can't stand, eat on the way back to my house.

Powder Day- Wake up at 6:30 smoke a grit drive 20 minutes to mountain

Regular Day- wake up at 11:30 smoke a grit drive 20 minutes to mountain

wake up around 8am and either eat breakfast at home and get ready, or just hitch to the hill (only 3km away) right away and eat breaky at the daylodge. get my gear on while drinking water (and eating breakfast) and socializing with friends in the lodge. Line up in the lift line around 8:50, wait till the chair opens at 9. Do an inbounds run, if it was good enough, I'll keep skiing inbounds, but if it's not doing it for me I'll hike around the slackcountry doing laps all morning till probably around 1pm. Head back down to the daylodge and hang out with friends. After lunch I've usually lost the motivation to go back up the mountain so I'll head up the chair one last time and ski home (right to my door).

wake up around normal weekend time, 10-11, have breakfast, get a 10 minute ride from my parents to my local mountain, stay till closing at 9 or 10 because of awesome CNY night skiing!

wake up, call my heli pilot, shower, go outside to the heli. fly up in a couple of minutes up to the resort, eat a nice 5 star breakfast (probably with a massage).

If its powder day i would call up some guides and photographers and do some sweet BC runs and get sick shots. If not powder I would go to the park for (hopefully) a private session and have my photographer take pics of me from my heli. i would be lapping the park cuz i dont use the lift, mostly snow mobiles and shit like that.

Then finish up, go the spa, have a nice lunch, go down to the city, pick up my gf in my limo, and then go out to party.

yeah, thats about it

I really hope youre joking, If not then I might as well just be depressed for the rest of the season...

also nice guys awesome replies :D

Shower the night before, leave my skis boots bag and poles by the door, wake up around 6 30 or 7 throw on my jacket and pants leave the house by 7 or 7 30. One hour in stop at McDonalds to get some breakfast. Drive up the rest of the way usually arrive by 8 or 830. On the mountain by 9.

Ski till about noon, de boot and go drive to a gas station to buy lunch 2 mins from the mountain. Save 8 dollars on food by buying it cheap. Get back on the mountain before 1 then ski till 3 then head off to a friends. IF we aren't tired we will head over to our local hill and get a few late park laps in. Shower again and go find some women

Up at 8. Eat some pancakes with some OJ. Watch an episode of Walker Texas Ranger just to get stoked out. Grab my gear, and hop into the car around 9ish. Ten minute drive up the canyon. Stretch out and take a nice little warm up lap followed by like 3 hours of shredding my normal favorite runs. Go grab some water, and take a nice little break at the lodge. Head back out, and go try and find some new lines or cliffs till around 4, and then I head home. Repeat for every day of the week.

wake up early.....eat..shower exct try to get to the mountain relatively early (expect for pow day) ski until like 11 or if its colder maybe earlier then ski then get some grub then more ski

This thread is sweet. Makes me want to ride so bad.

Typical day while in university.Take a 4 hour bus/ferry trip to my buddy's place and crash on his couch the night before. Get up at 6:30, put snowpants over my pj's, brush teeth, load the car and peace. Pick up some McD's and coffee on the drive up. Head up the mountain around 9, always take some non-park laps to scope out the snow and see if there's any pow to be had. Maybe get a park lap or two in before lunch. Pay for an overpriced mountaintop meal, then ride the park all afternoon or keep shredding pow if the snow is fresh. Head down anywhere from 3 to 4, drive back, pick up some fast food along the way home, then chill for a bit at my buddy's place with a couple beers, then head to my mainland home. Ferry back to school next day. Mmmmm.

This is pretty much my day haha.

Most saturday and sunday ski days come with a nasty hangover.

In Whistler I lap park once or twice to warm up and make last adjustments like tightening my boots, and then I go to peak or harmony if there's any reason to

Wake up super early, make sure I'm ready and have a decent breakfast. Get to the mountain, go really slow getting everything on- I hate when I'm rushed with this. Catch one of the first lifts up. Usually duck into the trees on the first run of the day to get bleezed. Ride all day- no lunch break. Either at some point in the afternoon or before heading home at the end of the day save time for another smoke. Head home. The rest of the night usually consists of drinking, or not drinking and using ice/heat where necessary.

Pack everything (except skis) the night before. Wake up at 5, leave at 5:30am then get to the Mtn around 9am

wake up

pack all my ski stuff(pants layers, etc)

put all the shit in my moms car

go to the end of my drive way

get on bus

sit thru school

my mom brings my stuff to school

put all my shit on

get on bus to resort

and ski....but thats only on ski club days

on a weakend

i wake up at around 9

eat a kick ass breakfast my wonderful mom makes

put all my shit in my friends suburban

haul up to the mountain(40min)

and shred all day

let's see for today

packed my gear up in a duffel put skis in the car last night, drove to my lady friend's place, crashed there. woke up at 8 am threw my gear on while she made breakfast. Ate and left her place by 8 30 got to the hill for 915 just a few warm up runs, then hit the park until about noon. met up with some friends at the resort bar, grabbed lunch and a few drinks. back to the terrain park by 1 few park laps then messed around on groomers until the lifts closed. Few more rounds at the bar with my friends. jumped in the car (still completely sober btw) drove home. nice long shower, and now i'm on ns. I'd say that a fairly accurate depiction of a normal ski day, unless it's dumping further up north, than it's out of the house by 5 am on the lift by 9 15, and ripping until i can't take anymore, there's no lunch break on pow days.

Get hammered the night before, tell everyone we're going up at 9, shut off my alarm at 9 and sleep till 10, make breakfast, leave my house by 10:45, get to PC at 11:30, lap the park for anywhere from 2.5 hours to close depending on how nice it is, rodeo burgers at bk, repeat.

Until it dumps, then I actually wake up early and get after it.

You guys remind me of my days as an east coast weekend warrior, used to be up at 6-7, 1-2.5 hours of driving depending on where I was going, ski till the lifts close...

look outside, check the forecast, either walk 2 blocks then a 15 minute bus ride, or get a ride to the hill, about 5-10 minutes of travel time. and i can do that any day because my mountain has night skiing till 10pm. yeaaah love living in vancouver.

i compete moguls, so a normal day of training goes like this:

wake up. jam whatever is in the pantry into my mouth.

trek to the hill after equipping myself with useful utilities such as skis and ipod

warm up run

team warm up stretch circle

perform the elephant stretch (best stretch ever)

slip mogul course

easy run through the moguls

chop the landings

hit the jump, do a couple laps through the moguls

eat lunch: preferably the most greasy thing on the menu. a large poutine and a doctor pepper usually will do the trick

stash skittles or chocolate in pocket for later consumption

a few laps through moguls

hike the bottom air to practice tricks

more laps

slip mogul course

after training is done, we go get our park skis and lap the park as a team. shit is cash.

go back home, consume lots and lots of delicious H2O. you get thirsty after an afternoon of skiing.

all in all, pretty awesome.

Well I am on a freeride team so I train almost 2 to 3 days a week (mostly at night though) from like 5 pm to 7 pm. Before that, I usually wake up at like 8am, do some schoolwork and head up to the mountain at like 12 to get a half day in. On saturdays, I wake up at 6:30, eat some breakfast, leave the house around 8:10 because I have to be at the hill by 8:45.

wake up, bacon and eggs. throw a bunch of sandwiches, random snacks, 8 pack and shit load of water into the bag, grab buddies, drive to the hill, put boots on in the parking lot, jump in the gondola. shred pow, rip the trees, hit some drops, eat food on the chairlift, rip trees, shred powder, hit some drops, start drinking beer around noon, shred some pow/hit some drops in the trees, drink more beer, eat more sandwiches, shred more, get last chair, drive to work, wash dishes while drinking more beer, go home, have sauna in the backyard while drinking more beer, go to bed, wake up, repeat.

reading this made me sad... people talking about how they have to drive 2+ hours god dammm.
I have one hill 25 min away, one 35min away, and one 50-60min away

Wake up at 7, hit up a big breakfast, pile into the car and drive 2 hours to the hill. Grab some tickets and ski around for an hour or so, then take a few laps at the park. Head to the top, have a big lunch (poutine is clutch), then back to the park for a few more hours. Then it's home on the range, with a stop at McD's for dinner, which everyone seems to do.

Wake up at 6-7 depending on when i want to get there. Take a shower, quickly pack my gear, thrown in a pack of ramen for lunch. Eat breakfast pack up the car, let it warm up and drive 20 minutes to the park and ride. Meet up with some homies to carpool. Hop on the interstate for a 40 minute trip to the mt. See some more local homies and shred all day with a quick lunch break. Usually hike a rail or jump in the afternoon and have an awesome sesh.

I pack my stuff the night before i go skiing wich is almost everyday haha.In the morning around 8 I wake up eat then leave to ski. After some parks all day since there's nothing else at my home mountain.I get back home around 5h and jib some more in my backyard. And that's about it.

wake up between 8-9, sausage bacon and egg breakfast with a cup of coffee. walk to the chairlift, usually traverse across to Avoriaz, shred for a bit before heading back to make sure i dont miss the last lift back.

wake up at 7 15. go to school until 3 40. at the mountain by 4 15. leave by 6 to get back in time for dinner. i do this five days a week and on sat/sun i wake up at 8 get to the mountain by 8 30 and ski until 5 30. i love it.

Pack my stuff the night before

roll with whatever happens at school that night.

wake up early and drive to summit country

get to whichever mountain we decide

skiskiskiskiskiski

be hungry

drive thinking about food

find food

eat

get back to fort collins and pass the fuck out.

or wake up at my apartment in VT

go to work

probably get the day off work cause its a weekday and there are no kids

ride park solo or trees if theres any snow

lap with friends

party/ hot tub poach
