What's your editing software?

Thinking about upgrading from iMovie to another editing software. What do you guys use and how much is it? I wish you could buy it for a flat fee rather than monthly payments, so I would be willing to spend $300 - $400 with no monthly payment. Still open for some with monthly payments though.Comment what you use!
 
Premiere Pro for editing + DaVinci Resolve to color

Resolve lite is free though and if you aren't shooting anything above 1080 60 it's perfect for coloring and they keep adding features to make it better at editing too so that's cool

Man I want to love resolve but I just can't get past going from premiere to resolve. How do you do it? Doesn't all your time remapping get all screwed up? The ergonomics of resolve make a lot more sense to me than speedgrade. Not to mention Davinci is constantly cranking out solid updates to Resolve.
 
If your comfortable with iMovie. FCPX is right up your ally same layout everything, more things to do in it though

Resolve's super intuitive and a really powerful coloring tool haha and they're really working on adding to the editing side too.

I roundtrip and export as xml from premiere, haven't really had any issues with time remapping being screwed up, I can look up the tutorial I used for you if you want, it took me a while to find a good one. You could always go the other way around and color first and edit after I guess although that'll take up alot of space/be a bit of a pain rendering and all that.
 
From iMovie, FCPX is a next step up that you will be able to handle with ease. Premiere Pro is the best consumer editor at the moment that Ive used. If you're going the legit way and paying for a subscription, then it may not be worth it, i.e. why i have a cracked version

Lightroom CC for photos

Photoshop CC for graphic design/ really complicated photo editing
 
Adobe CC is clutch, everything you could ever think of getting and more. Get a decent discount if you are a student as well.

Yo I'm looking for help with color grading. Do you grade/work on each shot then import to premire pro or do you make your edit then import the whole sequence into film convert and work on each shot at one time.

I have the plugin for premiere and it makes grading o quick and easy

Ya man was the first time ive ever heard of that. just looked it up and it seems sick. watched some tutorials and shit and im liking the way it looks so far.
