What's worse, upper or lower body injuries?

I've fucked myself up pretty badly over the years, broken collarbone, broken wrist and broken neck all within the last 5 years to say the least. But over my life I've been pretty fortunate to never suffer from any serious lower body injuries.

Last week however I think I strained my MCL, so walking and bending my knee is pretty painful. It's no way near as bad as what other people go through (full acl tears, broken femurs etc), however I've gotta say this fucking sucks, I think even more than any of my other injuries. Just goes to show how much some people take just walking around for granted.

So this little injury got me thinking, I can genuinely say I'd rather break my wrist or collarbone again over breaking my ankle or leg etc.

Thoughts?

I’ll take an upper body injury any day of the week. Breaking my collarbone was a walk in the park compared to my ankle and foot. I busted my collarbone so badly that I had to get a plate and 9 screws put in but it healed really fast. Yeah putting on shirts sucks but that’s about it.

With ankle and foot injuries you’re hobbling around on one leg and every task is 10x harder. You are basically disabled. Then your healthy leg starts getting sore because it has to do all the work and it takes a while doing PT to get all the strength back and balance them out. And then you lose all your balance and dexterity in your afflicted leg as well. Fuck leg/lower body injuries.

lol well isnt that broad

i picked lower cause knees suck, but a good neck or back injury can be equally crippiling

thats why my dins are at 12 so i never fall

Upper, hands down, I dont care what your phony survey says because you break your neck and you cant use upper or lower.

I broke my neck and back, I thankfully had no deficits (my spinal cord was not affected- I never lost use or feeling in any limbs, I literally walked myself into the hospital, in hindsight not a smart idea!). Once it was settled I was going to avoid surgery (a 2 week enquiry nonetheless), it was a rather straightforward recovery. All 4 limbs worked just fine, so life was pretty easy compared to breaking a femur. Plus it was less painful than my collarbone and my wrist injuries.

yeah youve been kissed by an angel

Lower sucks. Sitting here after hip dislocation #3 and goddamn does it suck not being able to walk around like them normal folk. Head and neck are obviously exceptions but any other bone or muscle is a milloin times different

Lower for sure. Broken both feet two times and that shit sucks.

Both feet at the same time ? Fuck that.

I know someone who broke both wrists at the same time and that recovery looked horrific.

Failed to complete a 115 foot double on a motorcross track when I was 18. Missed a semester of college too.

lower. You learn a new found appreciation for just being able to go take a piss when you cant walk for 3 months lol

For sure. I’ve had fucked up thumbs, torn shoulder labrum (painful for a while) but can’t compare to a fracture in one of my foot bones. couldn’t walk normal for a week. It was fucked so I’d imagine a real major lower body injury would basically cripple you for months

Upper body.

Currently rocking a bruised and swollen spleen with a battered rib cage after taking a compression a little too hot the other day. Hurts to breathe, move, laugh, sniffle, sleep, anything. Add that to a rib broken earlier season, your mobility gets really limited.

My neck, my back, my puss...

I would say upper is worse. I've been more prone to lower injuries (right ACL torn twice, left knee dislocated twice, broken toe). My upper injuries have been broken thumb and a spleen injury. The spleen was the worst pain I have ever been in. I should have gone to the hospital. It was sending random severe shots of pain straight to my shoulder, I guess it's some nerve that is affected with a spleen injury. Unbearable pain. Both ACL's hurt real bad a few hours after injury, but the shoulder nerve pain from the spleen is the worst I have ever felt. Any small movement, even breathing, would trigger the pain. To the point where I was gasping for air. I looked like I was possessed, doing the arched back open mouth wince every time.

Head, neck, back injuries must medically be worse than anything lower body I would think.

god damn you break your pelvis during those too or clean pop right out?

Just found out today that I have a full thickness tear of my rotator cuff. This injury has been 1000% easier to deal with than breaking my tibia. I will have to judge again after surgery

Depends how bad the injury is I guess but still think theres alot more potential for the worst injuries on the upper regions. You got spine, brain, guts( alot of bad things can go wrong there) heart, lungs the list goes on. Lower you legs but upper you have arms so a tie there. So I'm thinkin op needs to reword his original question.

I just broke my wrist, and it is 100 times better than breaking an ankle like I did a few years back. I can still do normal things with a broken wrist, but its tough to wipe my ass.
