also, not that it matters but ---- i grew up racing, no problems shredding bc/big mtn, and I still love pole-less bunch swerves. fuck me right?

It's not a new style of skiing .. It's called a gaper style of skiing .. Ahmet had dope style and skis with no poles .. So did pep and Andy Mahre .. It's not about poles or no poles .. It's about good skiing and good technique and shit try hard skiing with no technique .. Most of the new hip hop these days is shit.. Is it good casue it's new no it's shit cause its shit .. Bar a few exceptions (like Jay Electronica and kendrick) there is fact and fiction in life .. Just cause something is new and wanna be edgy doesn't make it good.. And every one is dick riding very hard and they really have no idea what gold skiing is.. Watch jossi wells ski .. That's good skiing .. Watch McRae Williams ski the guy is amazing and tech as fuck.. The most ironic part to this post is that Delorme was the original arm swinger. Now, it wasn't to the degree guys are doing it today, but he was swinging arms while the everyone else was afterbanging away. It's all good though, different styles in skiing is awesome

I'm not gonna disagree with you on the subjective aesthetics of skiing. But this last part makes me chuckle. I'm willing to bet I have 2-3x the years and experience on ya. Styles come and go. The guys you cite as the "old stewards" were mocked by the guys before them. And the "new" guys you're complaining about will be the standard that the next style gets judged against.

I like The Bunch and their style and I'll watch their edits but all the space just filled with someone doing 100 reverts while waving their arms gets boring. Same goes for doing those 90° tail butters over and over.

Skiing is going to be fine. There's plenty of skiers out there who are still crushing it without the bunch style (burrlapz, big picture, young guns in pc, always sunny at Alta boys, etc). I don't get the arguement that all of skiing is going down the shitter just because the bunch are popular and going in a different direction that everyone else. Different strokes for different folks but it's not like skiing as a whole is dying because the bunch don't have "proper technique"

You are not really wrong but, as usual, spreading your message by being an asshole. I probably come close to your requirements are for being able to determine what "good skiing" is and there is no way I would have gotten there it had I not fallen in love with skiing by sliding 10 foot rails at my shitty home resort first. These days it seems like kids ski park and then get interested in the rest of the sport. Don't hate them because they have not yet had life expanding experiences like blasting a big mountain line or skiing deep pow that can cultivate an appreciation for using more of their edges. I think if you toned your vitriol down at little (or maybe a lot, haha) you might find that people would be more receptive to your opinion.

Dude ive got some PSIA certs in freestyle and they arent even as bad as OP and ozzywong. We just want to have fun helping people learn new tricks. Everybody has a different style of doing tricks and its cool to try and learn other's style

Im sorry, I shouldnt have made that a knock on PSIA. It is important to have a structured format to teach skiing. Not only is it useful to be able to break down technique but it also is a huge resource to allow people to progress faster. The dark side of it can be that it creates a culture where there is a right and wrong way to ski. That is the only thing I was trying to reference in Ozzys post. Sure some of the new skiers with this much different style might not do that well out side of park or jib style skiing but to knock them and say that that style doesnt have a place in skiing is wack. And sure it comes down to a matter of opinion which I respect. And opinions are like assholes, everybody has them. Some are just way shittier than others.

Its all good man. I completely understand where you are coming from with PSIA. Its mostly a bunch of older guys who want to have people ski the most technical way possible and they bring on this vibe of elitism which turns a lot of people away. The younger guys in PSIA are actually pretty chill and the vibe is starting to change

I don't really care, but when the bunch post's a video on Instagram of them buttering on a groomer it kills me... it's not "style" its what anyone who has skied longer than 5 years can do on soft skis.

Diversity is only going to help skiing. Skiing would have gotten stale as fuck if people still only skied park like how you are describing. Also, the bunch riders have tons of fans so there is a demand for this skiing whether you like it or not. So obviously they have a place in skiing. Think of different ski styles like different genres of music. Let's say you didn't like country music. You wouldn't say it doesn't have a place in music since there is a demand that needs to be filled for a certain people and the people that don't like it can just ignore it.

Agree with this. Not a fan, but it makes freeskiing what it is! It's an expression. A passion. The more relatable skiing is to get more kids into the sport, the better. All styles are good styles
 
For me the bunch reminds me of what the Joystick crew did a while ago, even before butters, handrags became a trend as now. Of course the way The bunch edits their video is different but still, I don't consider their way of skiing really innovative.they just took what joystick did , improved it a bit and mostly marketed it well.
