What's the point of being able to spin both ways ...?

This might be a dumb question lol

Does spinning both ways make you more balanced or something ?

I noticed when I'm throwing right side 3s all day, my right side abs get a workout. I wanna throw them to the left to even it out so I'm not jacked on the right and super weak on the left

Thats the only reason I can think of to learn spinning both ways, like nobody is going to notice that you're spinning unnatural on a jump lol

When you spin right you will inevitably get someone stoked on your unnatty spins and then it’s like this awkward let down of like... yeah well I can’t do it the normal way this is it

really just personal progression imo. Like I try to get spins down both ways in the same way I wanna get rails down both ways. It does make you a more well-rounded skier, but its obv not totally necessary. if I ever put together a video I think only clips of spinning one way can get repetitive but thats only if you actually notice in the first place

It's like having a balanced budget or diet. The key to a healthy skiing career is balance. Not everyone needs perfect symmetry but there are some huge benefits. The Mayans knew this. That's why you can see some of their early patterns in our skiing. A skier should generally aim to spin neutral, with amounts of spins to left and right canceling out. Front or back rotations as well. A skier should also rotate which boot they put on and take off first. Skiing like life is all about balance if you want to be in it for the long haul.

Allows for bigger bag of tricks. Same with hitting rails unat. Nat Superfed for me forces me to throw an unat b4 (spinning unat). If I wanna land regular on 2 on I gotta spin unat as well. Literally helps with being an overall better park skier

A legit reason is that it'd be better to spin one direction over the other for some features, like pipes and hips, or rails where you can only get on from one side, etc. Better to have options.

It grows your bag of tricks. Some spins on rails will take you straight to unnatural. To be able to nail it, you need unnatural skills. Same goes to hip jumps; to be able to spin off every aspect takes unnatural skills.

It helps also for strengthening your turning in flats in carving. We all have a strong and weaker turn, working the unnatural and feeling comfortable with it, corrected the weakness.

I learned how to do both way spins for all mountain shredding, some side hits and gaps are just built better (formed better) for those who spin a certain way... but if you can spin both ways it makes it way more enjoyable

I mean it just makes you a better skier in general if you’re only comfortable spinning one way or looking over a certain shoulder skiing switch thats just going to inhibit you from having a larger trick vocabulary.

Adds versatility to all mountain jibbing, doesn’t matter what direction I’m carving I can throw a spin no need to line up just throw it

Why does anyone double cork? Why triple cork?

Its all to display skill, doing a dope trick one way is cool but doing it both ways 10x harder and 10x more impressive. The whole point of being a "pro" skier is showing you have skill.

It's aesthetically pleasing. Even on the smaller spins. Lets say normal 3 jump line. Left 5, switch right 5, left or right 5/7.

Something about spinning one way and then the next way is just enjoyable to watch even if you take out the difficulty factor or what you know about the sport. It looks more flowy.

I totally agree with this, I naturally spin right but there are certain features on my home mountain that just beg for a left spin. Plus it’s a nice challenge to learn something new.

It looks way sick to spin a left 3 and then a right 3 in a jump line. Also certain natural features are going to set you up better for an unnatural spin so it’s nice to be comfortable spinning both ways

If your filming a jump line it visually looks better to have right and left spins even if it’s only like an unnatty man 180..... just like have backside and frontside spins out of rails
