Whatup!

Planing on getting a new pair of park skis..i've got a pair of Volkl Ledge..not to happy about them! kinda stiff and heavy for my taste!

So just wondering what is the lightest park ski out there? or top 3?

the ones im considering right now is the Atomic Punx, the Salomon Supect and the Dynastar 6th Sense Distorter!

any comments?

go to the gym

work out legs

ski weight no longer matters

aka don't be a bitch, the vast majority of park skis weigh very close to each other for their respected sizes, bindings have more to do with weight then the ski, but once again don't be a bitch

hey i had this problem too but i realized it wasnt the weight of the ski as much as the swing weight so look into skis with reduced swing weigh. also if that doesnt work looks like the gym is your last option. also really easy

if your boots fit, skis feel like nothing on your feet anyway. swing weight is meh too, as long as you're not on 210's with weights at the end, it's not a big issue i think.

aight! tnx

what you all think about me 3 pick skis? good? really wanna try the Head J.O. Pro but i heard they where alot narrowd done to jump. i know the Dynastar is a outsider but its got some fucking good review..

heard a lot of trash talk about the suspects tho they seem in comps!

Btw Balto..i'm 6.1,7 and weigh 163 lbs..i just have old knee injury in both my kneecaps wich makes it harder to do tecnical tricks.. but sorry for not beeing a fatass like you

im 6'3" 150lbs with half torn ACL's in both knees and have no problem riding a pow setup that weighs 21 pounds, once again don't be a bitch

Rossignol Scratch, they are really light! And they aren't narrow little things like the Heads or Punx. Gotta have that width for when the park softens up dog!

This. Get some leg muscles. I ski a rather heavy big mountain set up, and after being on those for 2 weeks straight, I clicked into my park skis, they felt like nothing. And I dont see my pow set up as the heaviest thing in the world too. If you're going to get the lightest ski, you're going to sacrific durability. I'd think with a man of OP's size, he'd be able to handle a big ski.

based on everyones helpful tips, besides balto tha pole...

there's a shitload of good skis out there, so it comes down a little, the price and personal taste! all great suggestions for you guys!

im currently most stoked on the Armada Halo, THall, Rossi Scratch and the Punx!

after video reviews, mostly one of the Armadas!

punx, lte's, afterbangs are probably the lightest but bindings are more important at cutting down the weight, however swing weight is more important that the overall weight cause if they are heavy underfoot it doesnt really matter and may be stronger on rails but if the tips are heavy it makes alot of difference beacuse you have too swing them around away from your feet

I've heard the line afterbangs are the lightest you can get at the moment, be careful what bindings you use though, its just as important to keep their weight down too.

SLANT SKIS ARE ALL BAMBOO... LIGHT AS F**K

The 5822 is their park ski... it has Carbon Fiber Wrpped around the waist. Is is the lightest ski I have ever ridden and I own a ski shop and have skied lots of skis, but this is by far the lightest ever....

NOT TO MENTION the BEST/MOST "POP" I have EVER gotten from a ski.

Made in Lake TAHOE, CA by a dude from MARQUETTE MI

I really suprised no one mentioned the masterminds. I work at a shop and out of all the twins we carry those are the lightest

Thanks guys! lot of good inputs!

Have to say, the ones that stick out so far is the Armada Halo's and the THall.. looks so playful! love doing rail-session but i want a ski thats got super light swing weight.!

do a lot of urban too.so a durable ski wouldn't hurt either;)

Masterminds are ridiculosly light but you'll sacrifice performance and durability for it

I have Halos and they seem ridiculously light to me. Tons of fun too, lower swingweight than the Thall (which are light as it is).

Lots of people I know ride Punx and they are super light, lighter than the Halos.

If you want a soft/light ski, I'd say those are good options. Halos would be my choice. I'm 5'8 140 and ride the 176 Halos at true centre (they ride fine there despite what NS constantly says).

Thanks man! really helpd me out! digg the Punx, and no doubt they are good skis!

Think I'm going for the Halos as well! Sounds perf!

what kind of boots you use btw?:)

also got a couple of Marker Griffon bindings should i use those or buy other one's?

What other people use for boots shouldn't regard you. Go get fitted. And your Griffons might be too low of a binding for you. Get some FKS bindings or STH 14 Drivers. Don't sacrifice performance and durability on your bindings because you want something light. Anything plastic is prone to break, and with someone your size, you'll want a stronger binding. More metal the better.

Light skis scare the crap out of me. I want to ride my skis, not the other way around.

Also, don't confuse "stiff" with "heavy." Many people will assume a ski that is stiff as a plank (Volkl, Fischer) is "heavy" because they aren't very responsive on small features, and as a result they feel less nimble.

Of course it's all preference, but I like to base my flex on the type of riding I'll do. For big hits and charging lines, I want my ski to be big and stiff (giggity). For rails, I just use some soft snowblades, like a 175cm.

I realize that the title for this thread is wrong now! I'm just looking for a really fun and playful park ski with super light swing-weight what works awesome on the rails but as well on jump!:)

My bad!

I'm not confusing the stiffness of the ski with the weight of it, just like i said looking for a ski with low swing-weight! as you se I've also considered the THall which is a more stiffer ski then the Halos!

Also thanks for the input on the bindings! really helped me out! cuz i realize i gotta shitload of new gear here, and with the fuckup prices thats on skis and gear here in Norway. I just wanna get my shit right, so i don't regret my purchases..

but thanks guys! you really know your shit!

Rudager's advice is solid, get the boots that fit. For what its worth, I have some head mojo boots that are like 4-5 seasons old, heavy and packed out as fuck. I should have replaced them but I hate buying boots so much i just stick with them. Go to a good ski shop and get boot fitted.

Bindings wise, I use Jesters and have been fairly happy with them, they have gotten a bit sloppy in the toe over time but they have held up well, I won't be buying them again though. Griffons feel a lot less solid and seem to release easier (at the same DIN) from what little experience i have on them. I would get Sth 14s in the ideal world but I'd be very tempted to use Griffons if I had a pair lying around. If you can sell the Griffons for a decent price my opinion is Sth 14 Drivers (not the Z-toe ones) are probably the best (assuming STH 16s and FKS 180s are massive overkill, I'll get hated here but the toe on the newer FKS 140 is a cheap plastic toe and I would prefer the STH Driver).

182 Halos + Sth 14 Drivers + Boots that fit is a money setup for you.

Yeah go for the griffins, i find their pretty well balanced so they dont affect the swing weight, Plant those on some symmetric skis and you shouldn't feel much swing if not any.

He'd sacrific durability though. You don't want that with a binding. Like Twigski and i said, the STH 14 Driver, improved durability (they will last forever). I have never noticed a weight or swing weight problem that has been directly related to my bindings. Griffon is just too light weight.

Thanks dude! in terms of durability, cuz I'm not stoked of buying new shit all the time if it fucks up!

No offence to charliestevenT!:) Im sure the griffons are sweet aswell, and i've heard alot of positiv things about them!

anyways tnx y'all! Now i just gotta get some good boots fitted and the the shop(online or local) and I'm all set! then i just have to w8 for the fucking snow to come to the northern part of Norway!:P

After skiing hellbents with fks my ar6s with sth feel like nothing. But for a super low swing weight I'd look into something with taper as it brings the weight closer to your feet. Also, do squats/other leg exercises

I would go 182, 6ft 1 is 185cm so they are still a bit shorter than you. They feel short because of the rocker.

I'm 10cm shorter than you and 10kg lighter and I'm on the 176, I sometime wish I was on 182s. They are just so light you don't notice them. You could get away with 176 at a push but I can't imagine them feeling stable at speed or on big jumps.

I switched from Liberty LTE's to Halo's and the Liberty's were noticeably lighter/ lower swing weight.

that being said the core and halo's ski better so there's def more to a ski than just swing weight

Im from Norway aswell, you should check out Oslo sportslager, they have low prices. As for skis, i got the Rossignol storm and griffons. The storms are as light as the punx(seriously) soft and really playful, their also cheap!
