What’s the difference between underflip and flair

My friend thinks his is a underflip but I think it’s a flair.

he thinks that his is still an underflip and I think he is doing a flair. who’s correct

You guys did the same trick but with different styles, basically.

Flairs are only done in vert or on qps/half pipes (I think). So yeah, I'm pretty sure they're both underflips.
 
I thought underflip a were more like 90 Lincoln 90 out, and flairs were backflips with a late 180 at the end which is kinda what he did
 
Idk, but the video suggestion I got afterward was called Non Binary Grandma Killer and that was weird.
 
both are right. i'd be more inclined to call it a flair when it's on a vert and undie when it's on a jump

some people still say an underflip "has to be 90 flip 90!" but that, thank god, is going out of style. just dumb hair splitting. y'all did an underflip, you did a flair, hell you did a dope 5
 
I always thought a flair was just a cork 5 in a pipe/quarter pipe. I'd say the first vid is a underflip 5 and the second vid is a backflip late 180.

Didn't seem that weird based on my general search history but good to know it was for everyone.

IMO I think you guys are all trippin the first one is 100% an underflip and the second one is def a backie late 180.

Flair is just an underflip in the pipe

I see what you are saying in that it looks like a backflip late one but I don't think it is. I think it's a laid out under flip. He starts his his rotation slightly off axis which brings the rotation around. Versus a backflip late one starts as a completely on axis backflip that with mid air adjustments adds a 180. I know it's a small difference. Heres a clip from a king for example

 
Those are both sick. My advice is don't worry about what tricks are called and just keep blissfully shredding. My understanding is flairs are just on vert. Kind of silly to argue about these small distinctions between tricks imo.

Upvote for King Antti. A backflip late 180 is done by changing your moment of inertia in the air, while a flair/underflip is determined in the set, like other off axis rotations. Similar to how a cork is different than a full

Yeah flair comes from bmx vert, an air trick is a trick + 180 on a QP, so a tailwhip air is just a tailwhip 180 on quarter, so a flip air is a backflip with a 180, hence flair

If anyone says a trick is a flair and it's not in a qp they're wrong
