Whats the deal with Alberta alcohol laws?

Hey so I am from Ontario, but this spring my buddy and i are goin around alberta and BC, goin to different resorts and stuff.

anyways, the drinking age here is 19, alcohol can only be baught at bars and liscenced dealers like the LCBO and the Beer Store (google those if you are confused as to what they are). both of those places are pretty tough for IDing people and its pretty gay.

anyways, I will have a fake that says im 18, im just wondering if it will be easy for me to get alcohol. Where do they sell it? Is it like quebec where they sell it in corner stores? or is it super strict and gay like it is here in ontario?

Any help is greatly appreciated lol
 
well your in luck. Drinking age is 18 so if you have a fake you are guaranteed no problems. Heck for liquor stores you dont even really need you fake unless its a chain, they usually id. They dont sell alcohol in corner stores but just go to a small independent liquor store (one with the community name in the name usually tells you its independent eg: forest lawn liqour store, canyon meadows liqour store) and they most likely wont even ask to see your id. Even if they do I can almost guarantee they wont ask for 2 pieces.
 
ya its pretty chill last summer almost 30 people used the same guys ID at the Airdrie pro Rodeo to get into the bear gardens and its cops doing the IDing they barely even looked at my face and i got a bracelet to get in. Like the other guy said its super easy because liquor stores are not government owned.
 
age in alberta is 18 and bc is 19
we dont have the government run liquor stores like ontario or other eastern provinces do, some are chains but all are privately owned, this also means they are open later, i remember some places in ontario when i was there visiting were only open till 5 or 6, you can find some places here open till 2 am

Thats sick that liquor stores are privatized, in Ontario they are all government run. actually theres only 2 real liquor stores, the ones i mentioned in the OP

watch out for pakis they will take your id. and some places make you take it out of the id sleeve. so if its pieces of paper stuck to a card..yea....and is your fake an ontario id?
 
If you have an ID they can't legally make you take it out (I think), although they can refuse service to you if they want to. If all else fails and they want to see the fake anyways then you could try pulling that card, but chances are they'll just kick you out of the store.

its a real ID, its my brother's old drivers liscence, so its legit. i just dont really think it looks much like me, so the picture is the only thing im worried about.

should i try scratching it up or anything?
 
Dude you'll be golden. I got my fake last year when i was 16 and its never failed. Doesnt even look like me. Most places around here that I've dealt with hardly ID and when they do they barely look at it. They really only look at the date of birth.

Where abouts are you plannin on going by the way?

 
yeah i am kinda hoping that they dont ID me at all, that would be sweet.

to answer your question we will be at sunshine and lake louise for a couple of days, and then revelstoke and kicking horse for the rest of the break
