What's safer to mount?

Currently have some griffons on my halos that are mounted dead center for a 30.0 size boot. I broke the heel piece on one of them and am looking to either invest in fks 155s or sth 14 drivers, both have different drill holes then the griffons but I still want them to be mounted dead center. So my question is which one is the safer mount?

You won't safely be able to do either at true center. You will either have to get griffins or go back a bit

Just wondering, did you get you boots fitted? because a 30.0 is huge

anyways, you might be able to get away with it since pivots have such a short mounting pattern. also, marker's screw hols are pretty far forward. A surprisingly helpful tool is to compare where the bolts are on mfd alltimes from the top view, it gives you a pretty good idea of where they are in relation to each other

And if worst comes to worst, you will have to mount a non symmetrical ski where it was intended to be mounted.

Both will be tricky, about 8mm back for the STH or 20mm back for the FKS is your only option, both with the heel mounted too short and track adjusted. You'll need a good shop guy either way.

Better to just put Griffons/Jesters/Pros in the old holes.

Yep as has been said its not going to be easy. The flat heels would be fine but your going to struggle with the toe. I would also recommend unless you are sure you need size 30 boots, go get measured up, you may find you can get in a smaller boot and keep the centre mount. For reference my shop did about 500 boots last year and only 3 were size 30.

fks have a shorter mounting position then griffons so they might work. what i would do is get a paper template and line it up and see if they fit. then ask your shop if they will mount them or do it your self. hope this helps somewhat.

Get some jesters or j-pro's depending on your DIN and put those in the old holes... Way easier than trying to remount a new binding in the same place.... I've skied on fks and the new jesters and they both felt really good, I like the release on fks better, but marker still makes a great binding....

I went from Jesters to FKS180s...

The toepiece fitted damn near into the exact same holes, or at least 2 of the screws did. No issues there.

And the heel was miles in front of the Jester track. I had both mounted at center with the same boot and it was all gravy. I'll have a look at the skis when I get home tonight as they have no bindings on them now so the holes are pretty obvious.

Double post, but I just printed off paper templates for FKS and Jester and the rear 2 holes of the toepiece are absolutely identical, the front 2 on the FKS are wider and further forward, the spacing is 12mm from the hole centres which is OK.

The heelpiece is miles in front of the Jester track so no issues there.

Youre probly going to have to compare the screw patterns in real life to get the very best layout possible.
