What’s new in the ski world?!

I googled it, and it worked for another guy like three years ago, so i figured I’d try- I missed the past two years serving a Mormon mission... Knowing NS, this could turn out bad haha but anyway what are some highlights from the past two years?! During my mission I didn’t have access to Newschoolers or skiing so I have no idea

let's leave all opinions on the mormon mission at the door and just pick up where that other thread left off. plenty has happened in the past two years that's for sure!

i'm in a hurry right now but will def be back to try to pitch in here

magnus & on3p has kinda blown up and this "new wave" thing is a term now - it's pretty similar to the hesh thing from 2007

Future spinner alex schlopy had a crazy story about going through a methy phase

Henrik is still the most real dude ever.

Candide still makes us all look like gapers

Tanner Hall stopped drinking, and has been a monster the last two seasons

Jah Spriggs got sober too... surprise! he's better at skiing

I'm sure more will come to mind... I'll be back

I saw something about that “new wave” stuff goin around, and that was totally new to me... do you have any recommended edits I can watch to catch the feel of it?

Andri Spaghettli landed the quad cork

Vail has continued to expand it's empire, and alterra is trying to fight it and build it's own

Slvsh has blossomed into the best thing in skiing

Hoodcrew made a solid thread earlier this year about whether or not you'd fuck lisa z if she shat on your floor, worth the read

HG skis finally ran out of money and had to close up shop

Henrik Harlaut is still the best park skier on the planet

Tanner Hall is coming back and will be riding in the FWT

Dean Bercovitch has been learning pretzel dubs which defy the laws of physics

Candide is still killing it

Utah is getting even more crowded and price of real estate here is set to skyrocket :(

That's about all I can think of now, but I'm sure lots of people will have more.

I'm curious, what's your conversion rate on a mission?

Thanks for all the replies so far, and it kinda depends on the part of the world. It’s really high in the Philippines, Africa, South America, and other poorer parts of the world generally. It’s pretty tough in Europe. I actually served in SLC (I’m from seattle) which sucked as a skier haha but we surprisingly did really well in Utah.
 
Were you not allowed to ski?

I think that's the most devotion I've ever seen to a religion, you poor soul, 2 years in SLC with no skiing, holy shit, I don't think I'd survive.

Dude, rip the shit out of everything my god, I'm not mormon, but if you come to SLC I will personally give you a tour of my favorite snowbird spots to help you make up for lost time.

Heck yeah dude my family actually moved here while I was on my mission so i live about 25 minutes from Alta now... actually I was just making sure I had enough for a season pass! ? What makes you ride Snowbird vs. Alta? Snowboard friends?
 
That and I love spring skiing, snowbirds late season is banger.

Vishnu has been absolutely killing it, released the Harvest in chapters on NS and expanded their lineup to a second ski, both are worth checking out.

As far as new wave goes the ON3P 1 and 2 videos are basically all that you need, or zoot.space for the corest of the core, swerviest of the swerve.

Tanner Hall is still wack, Henrik didn’t do well at the olympics, the east coast got the most snow last season, the snowboard vs ski beef was reignited by snowboard coaches at windells this summer... thats about it tbh
 
I'm surprised no one mentioned Revision skis yet

Heads up : they might not be the best choice if you are looking for some fresh gear
