What's does your phone timeline look like?

I'm curious to see what phones everyone here has had in the past, and what they have now. You can also include any notes on why you bought whatever phone if you like.

Here's my "phone timeline":

IMG_7064.jpg

Samsung Z230

This was the first cell phone I ever had, my mom got it for me for my 18th birthday, even though I was very reluctant to get a phone because I enjoyed being hard to get a hold of as a teenager.

fido-blackberry-pearl-8100-unlock.jpg

Blackberry Pearl 8100

A few months after having my first cell phone, my girlfriend at the time convinced me to get a blackberry, because BBM was the thing back in 2008.

rim-blackberry-bold-9000-1.jpg

Blackberry Bold 9000

This was the first cellphone I ever got excited about. I bought a preproduction model off craigslist for $500 before it was released to the public. It was a fucking tank of a phone and lasted me years. One night I got super drunk with some friends and tossed it in the bushes so we could go pool hopping. When I came back for it less than an hour later it was gone.

capa-de-siliconetpu-para-htc-legend-g6-cor-preta_MLB-F-2782925106_062012.jpg

HTC Legend

This was my introduction to touchscreen phones and Android OS. When I first got it, it kept unlocking in my pocket and calling people. Eventually the screen glitched out on me and about half the time it was unusable. I never warrantied it with HTC because I'm lazy.

images

iPhone 3GS

After my HTC crapped out on me I was given this from another GF who upgraded to the iPhone 4. It did the job but wasn't anything to get excited about.

22218.jpg

HTC Raider/Vivid

This is my current phone and the biggest one yet. I have to admit that I've been converted to the bigger is better camp, especially if you want to do any kind of web browsing on your device. I'm really satisfied with many aspects of this phone, but it is starting to feel a bit dated, and I'm getting serious phone envy from my gf's nexus 4.

So that's my phone timeline, what's yours?

(INB4 Cool Story Bro)

First phone was one of these bad boys:

75-209-241-09.jpg

Went through 2 of these

Eventually upgraded to a Krzr

scl09076.jpg

Also, another one of these

Next was a sony ericcson (an older model though)

w8804wm.jpg

I then plowed through a few phones here and there that I dont remember.

Then one of these things:

3gs.jpg

And currently, an Iphone 4

iphone-4s.jpg

oct 2010 this one got thrown up on one night.

lg-rumour-2.jpg

this one got thrown up on one night.

march 2012, I dropped it one day and the screen slowly stopped working

Freshman year
359431_0_original.jpg

That broke sophomore year and I got one of these and then lost it and got another

31ChEYGqHuL.jpg

Got this summer between junior and senior

htc-freestyle.jpg

That broke and got the 4 this last august after my birthday

IPhone_4.jpg

motorola_razr_v3m.jpg

Went into a pool with my razr so I backtracked technology wise to this for a few months

lg%20vx3100%202%20pics.jpg

Had that crap phone for a few months until my upgrade to the voyager

lg-voyager-titanium-1.jpg

One hinge was broken on my voyager for about a year and a half until I upgraded to the droid 2

Droid2_PR.jpg

I've had my droid 2 for close to 3 years and don't really have a reason to get rid of it. I'm just holding on to it until it breaks, even though I could've upgraded this time last year.

don't get rid of it. nobody makes sliding keyboard phones anymore and it sucks ass. I was so bummed when I broke mine and couldn't get another one with a keyboard. touchscreens are shitty.

First phone was an LG Voyager, got when I was 12 or 13 I think.

voyager_5.jpg

My mom gave me the option of her giving me a cheap flip phone or I could buy this for $100 myself, so I bought it because it was the tits back then and I wanted it so badly. A few months before I upgraded I was pissed off for whatever reason and I threw it against a wall and one of the hinges broke off completely but everything still functioned correctly. My mom then told me that since she bought it on her American Express credit card, the warranty was doubled to two years and I was somehow able to return it to get my money back. So then I was phoneless for about a month until....

I bought myself an iPhone 4 shortly after it came out when our contract ended.

iphone-4s.jpg

With the $100 I got from my old phone, I basically only spent $100 on this one. I also bought the 2 year Applecare protection plan or whatever it's called, which I don't regret because probably 14 or 15 months into having the phone, it shit out on me and I was able to exchange it for a brand new one.

Then since my contract ended a month before the iPhone 5 came out, I was able to pre-order it in the first week and be one of the first of my friends and kids at my school to get it.

iphone5-front-back.jpg

Naturally, the first day I had it, I went to fill up my car with gas and it fell out of my pocket as I exited my car and it pretty badly scratched and dented the metal sides. My case hadn't come in the mail yet, of course. Since then, I haven't put a scratch in it and I still love it.

I had an lg flip phone of some sort first, then I got this

31JF-EkCNEL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

And I've had it since 9/30/2008 I believe. It's invincible. I lost it skiing then found it 2 hours later at night and it still works fine.

started off here

00158dbd-8c76-4d95-b86f-cab921368236-2-400-0.jpg

then on to this bad boy

Nokiacells_6800.jpg

then this

lg9400-2.jpg

kept breaking phones

Verizon-Casio-GzOne-review-1__66667_zoom.jpg

definitely my favorite phone of all time

gzone-is-back.jpg

finally joined the herd with the 4s last summer

iphone-4s.jpg

Started with this when I was 12, I think

Motorola Razr

motorola-silver-razr-v3m-alltel-factory-refurbished-53302.jpg

Then I upgraded to this ballah, Samsung Alias 2. It was sick. They keyboard would change depending on how you flipped it.

samsung-alias-2-combo.jpg

Then I got this LG Cosmos Touch

242579-lg-cosmos-touch-verizon-wireless-keyboard.jpg

Then I lost that and I currently have a Motorola Rival. Pretty shitty but it gets the job done.

33678471-2-440-OVR-1.gif

My parents said they'd buy me a cell phone if I got straight A's in grade 8 haha so here's the first one:

samsung-sph-m300-full-1.jpg

Got it in 2008

And in 2010 barely upgraded:

LG%20KEYBO%209100.jpg

That's hit haha, don't want to drop the cash on anything more, $20/month.

First I had this
23A3B33F-9917-4F86-A093-44C15D223C91-4976-00000237C919BBE8_zps1dda4100.jpg

Then this
23A3B33F-9917-4F86-A093-44C15D223C91-4976-00000237C919BBE8_zps1dda4100.jpg

Then this
E92E5CC2-B265-4D54-9E07-9E32F2201F1D-4976-00000237CD7A0AE4_zps10f64b73.jpg

Now finally I got a little upgrade with this.
263288FC-FEEF-4C6A-ACDC-21F5CD9DEBDF-4976-00000237CE07D696_zps376af404.jpg

Then I got this it only lasted for a week the touch screen stopped working.
6D03A4FF-EB10-4C4D-ADB3-8F50F15E89A9-4976-00000237CE7B74CF_zps237e5a59.jpg

Ended up getting this. It's like the Motorola side flip its a horrible phone.
86E1A30B-A7E3-41C4-8DE7-FB89135F1631-4976-00000237CEEAD041_zpsb9c2a6f9.jpg

Now finally I have and iphone 4.

hopefully this works I did it all from mobile.

Started with this:

2mivwl.jpg

2 years later got this:

20r5huh.jpg

Then I destroyed that and took my dads old blackberry:

2lo3eaw.jpg

Then the day this released I got it (4) :

16rozd.jpg

Theeeen back in September:

24yqy54.jpg

Lots of googleing to get to this.

Nokia 5210. Inherited from dad. I was 11. You could throw this into a wall or something. Absolutely bulletproof. I only changed because my dad gave me his old next one, and it had a camera and stuff.

no5210_00.jpg

Nokia 5140. Also waterproof and stuff.

no5140_00.jpg

Nokia 6230i. Not 100% sure about this one, found a few that looks very similar.

nokia-6230i-00.jpg

Sony Ericsson K600. Found in a parking lot. I had it for over two years.

sony_ericsson-k600.jpg

Sone Ericsson S312. First phone I actually bought. I got it because the old one stopped working, and this was the cheapest replacement. It was a piece of shit.

se-s312-2.jpg

iPhone 3GS. Passed down from my dad again. Was so stoked.

2604511910_2d90e6e690_o%5B1%5D.jpg

iPhone 4S. After performing very badly for a while, I dropped the 3GS in the snow this fall, and lost it. Bought this then, second phone I've ever bought. Love it.

iphone-4s.jpg

Fun story: After like 10 days, someone found the 3GS, and I got it back. And when I plugged it in, it actually worked! So I didn't lose all the pictures and stuff that was on it. Then I gave it to my little brother, and he used it for about two months, and now he has the iPhone 5.

also fun thread

my phone timeline is way too long, it varied according to how rich i was so i flipped between smartphones and dumbphones constantly, if i could afford the data plan or not.

random LG flip phone

Razr

Newer Razr

Samsung Blackjack

Iphone 3G

Started using Blackjack again

Samsung Focus S

Iphone 4S

still alternate between the last two

Flip phones are still the greatest phones ever made

e26239.001

Huge thing, but pretty good.

LG8300.jpg

best phone ever made, I'm yet to see a phone with a better camera, fucking indestructible, pretty much waterproof as well, submerged in water often.

k850_1.jpg

Major potential but the camera didn't live up to the predecessor, and the touch screen was pathetic(this was ages ago)

sony_ericsson_c902.jpg

And of course, the current phone

apple-iphone-4-91.jpg

this is thrown in somewhere too

nokia+3310.bmp

First was some flip phone that was the predecessor to the razor. Then it was three razors. Then the iPhone 3G, 4, now I have the 5

started with this bad boy in freshman or sophmore year of highschool

LGC2000_196e3.image.250x350.jpg

moved onto this piece of shit

18139.jpg

then busted two of those and got this

Samsung-Alias-2-3z.jpg

then lost that on batman at six flags and got this which I have had for 2 years without cracking a screen.

IPhone_4.jpg

I've had this same phone for about 3 years as well. I have dropped it soo many times and land on it skiing all the time and it's still in fine shape. Thing is a beast.

[/IMG]http://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/images/4/2008/09/medium_lgxenon.jpg[/IMG]

Iphone 4

[/IMG]http://cdn0.mos.techradar.futurecdn.net//classifications/gadgets/phones/mobile-phones/iPhone/iphone4_2up_front_side-580-90.jpg[/IMG]

4 got stolen so got 4s

[/IMG]http://thetechblock.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/iphone-4s.jpg[/IMG]

I've broken an embarrassing amount of phones. I barely even use mine now.

Christmas 2009 got this

url]g

lasted like a year and a half, then just randomly shit out on me.

went back in time and bought this off a friend

samsung-propel-att.jpg

thing was a beast, was already >2 years old when I got it and it took a beating but after ~6 months of use it would shut off within like 5 minutes of turning on because it was convinced the battery was empty. This was my favorite phone ever.

went a little while w/o a phone, then picked up this piece of shit at the beginning of the 11-12 school year

pantech-pursuit-ii-slider.jpg

accidentally took that one swimming but it had shit the bed long before that.

i used this one for a while, it was my mom's old one but had a battery issue where it would charge all the way and then forget it had any juice and turn itself off. Never really used it except to check a text once in a while, it rarely left its place plugged in in my room.

lg-vu.jpg

then my brother got an iPhone 5 so now I have his old samsung with a big screen crack but it gets the job done and the battery lasts 3-5 days

a817_400x400_large1_cf.jpg

Now that I think about it, maybe getting a smart phone is not the best idea...

Awesome thread. I've had so many. Go through phones like crazy.

Old+Nokia+5110+Image.jpg

then went without one for a few years

this bad boy was awesome. Took a crazy beating

LG%20vx9400.gif

Bought from a friend when the first one finally broke. also took a crazy beating

tumblr_mdiexuqBep1qzc4cao1_400.jpg

Worst. went through like 5 of them

samsung-katalyst-handset.jpg

Liked it but threw it while drunk

motorola-motozine-5-megapixel-camera-phone.jpg

Went through about 5 of these too because they sucked so bad so t mobile kept giving me new ones

08207.jpg

first bb i had 9700. Fell on it and cracked the screen

TMo9700_1X.jpg

iPhone 3g. had two cause I dropped the first one off a balcony at a party

116744_g2.jpg

Second BB. 9780. was a good phone.

blackberry-bold-smartphone.jpg

Current. 4s

iphone-4s.jpg

Add to that at least 3 random flip phones that I would get from friends while waiting for other phones to come in the mail or whatever.

One phone I always wanted but never had was a razr. Remember when those came out? They were so cool. It was during that super impressionable time in my life which is probably why I still they are cool and would still like to have one.

cool thread.

it all started with a hand-me-down from my grandmother for my 15th birthday. pre paid and all that jazz

0.jpg

then Verizon was running a buy one get one free, so i upgraded BIG TIME and verizon started running family plans

1289683559-3868-0.jpg
OMG it has a camera! !@$%!@@

then a few years late to the game my brother and I did buy one get one free for these beasts (im convinced this is one of the best phones ever made, my father used his for like 6 years)

moto_razr.jpg

and 250 text messages a month split between my brother and I!!!! im pretty sure my 11 year old sister now sends that many messages in a week. but we thought we were hot stuff

free upgrade rolled around after a while and i thought i would be cool and get a touch screen. biggest POS ever. the damn screen never worked, and i would slide it open use the keypad and then slide it shut to talk

verizon-samsung-glyde-u940-new-cell-phones.jpg

i now move into the smart phone era, and it pains me to say started paying for data.
droid_x.jpg

today i still have the original generation droid X. purchased right after it came out. its got a dead spot the size of you thumb in the bottom center of the screen, and a new battery, but its still going strong. and i dont feel like paying to replace it. Ill probably wait until the 5S comes out and then treat myself

I was so hyped when this came out
Motorola-Rival-A455-QWERTY-Keyboard-Tin-Silver.jpg

Then I wanted something more sophisticated so I got this cunt

5.jpg

Then I traded that for ski boots so I got this
LG-Breeze.JPG

Now I just dislike cellphones and want to get rid of it.

samsunga777cellphone11.jpg

all a playa needs. third or fourth year on it, dropped it countless times, lost it in the snow up skiing (and it was miraculously returned to lost and found a week later), got drenched too multiple times in my jacket before i got a better one.

Holy crap I've had a lot of phones:

Nokia-5110-400.jpg

LG-C1300.jpg

4190Q8T738L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

lg-cu500-ss.jpg

Those were all AT&T then I went to Verizon

lg-vx8550-mint-blue.jpg

Then back to AT&T:

Blackberry-Curve.jpg

Then back to Verizon:

41rXs872ebL._SY300_.jpg

Then back to a Blackberry:

images

And now to an iPhone 4 which I've had for almost 2 years. Waiting for the 5S to drop. (might drop May-June from what I have heard.)

289779-apple-iphone-4-verizon-wireless.jpg

I may have forgotten a few phones here and there. I had a summer where I went through 3 phones.

Can't remember the name of my first phone, or the company that made it. Most similar looking thing I could find. Mine was kind of cool though, it lit up around the outline of the phone.

28058-39768-t259_Back.jpg

Then I had this bad boy. It was the thinnest slider phone in the world I guess, don't know if it ever held that title forever or what, but:

341521096SamsungE840.jpg

Then a Voyager:

41MIz-1xJ9L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Then an ENV Touch:

LG-enV-Touch.jpg

Then a Blackberry Bold 9700 or whatever it was:

img_199202_blackberry-9700-bold.jpg

And then all the originality was totally gone with the iPhone 4S:

156478_iphone-4s.jpg

Damn, I've had a lot of phones. Brought back some memories doing this.
