i am trying to plan a trip out west for this summer and i dont have to money for a camp so where is the best public park, mt hood or whistler? and also how much would summer lift tickets cost?

that's also pretty sketch. someone said they have people who stake out and spy for that shit. but yeah, hood's public is way better.

works every time. i'll be at hood on monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i may be a noob. but i have never clipped passes before.does this imply sneaking up on somebody in the lot and clipping there pass?or just asking them for it and giving them some wire cutters?

well they do allow you to park in the parking lot...but the airstrip is about 10 minutes, including the access road.

does whistler even have a public park anymore? I remember like 6 years ago it being complete garbage.

In the end, hood can have a pretty sick public park. Tickets are pricey, and a summer pass will almost undoubtedly be of no benefit. At least you can camp; while the alpine campground like right at timberline is cool, it does cost money, and gets chilly at night, so the airstrip is the more economical choice, being free and all.

wait, wait, wait.do people just sleep in their cars in the timberline parking lot or does anybody post up in tents?also, how long of a walk is it from timberline to the airstrip?

cant walk it. Hitch hiking could most likely work. Making friends in Govy or at the airstrip would work pretty well. Taking a car there would also be decent. The walk from the airstrip to the general store also would suck. I would highly recommend having a car or knowing someone that does. Yes clipping tickets also can work. Only heard rumors of people getting busted for it, but I dont know anyone personally that did. You can hike up to the park too (its really not that far, especially in early summer), but there will be somedays where park staff will come threw and ask to see a ticket and kick you out if you dont have one. I think its in the high 40s for a lift ticket and it was like 790 for a summer season pass.
hope that helps
