What's a good workout to keep in shape for ski season?

I know it's summer but you always want to keep in shape for the coming ski season. Any of you have any ideas on things to do for working out to stay in skiing shape?

road biking is an amazing way to keep your legs in shaped and keep your lungs up to par, or any sort of biking for that matter.... ive also picked up freebording, which is amazing cross training, between balance and a good work out, while still feeling like your shreding a mountain..

Running, sprints, stairs, leg lifts...and sit ups for a beach bod if you want one (I wish I had one)

i believe for stabilising your knees, running up huuge stairs is the best

way to go, and just going to the gym and working out the most commonly

injured areas is a good way to do it too. to get the tricks, tramp and waterramps rule!

Always, always remember to work your hamstrings too.

Strong quads and weak hamstrings make you more prone to injury, among other knee problems.

Cardio, core, and legs. And shoulders if you're one of those orthodox skiers who believe in pole planting.

My gym has got these 'bosu' things which are wicked for balance and core strength. I just try and do any normal stuff I would do in the gym (less weight though), ie squats, lunges, shoulder exercises, various stuff with cables whilst standing on a bosu at the same time. I also like seeing how far i can jump onto it from and then maybe spin off. I don't like work for bosu or anything, I just find it makes the gym way less boring!

going backpacking is mad fun and quite the workout. I like doin like 3 day trips because they're long enough to be pretty legit, but short enough that they are easy to plan for and not as big a deal if you mess up your route or something.

I just gave you some + Karma because you joined NS yesterday and have created 3 pretty good threads. Nice work!

As for your question, I try to hike all summer, swim, and work my arms by lifting PBR!

Join the football team. That would keep you in pretty good shape. During football I'm in the best shape of my life.

I play soccer, so they make us run and that keeps me in shape, takes care of all my leg muscles. To help actual skiing skill, i rollerblade, summer rail seshs, and waterramps.

yoga is so legit. someone told me today that golf helps to. it can like help your grabs being more consistant and spotting your landings.
