Whats a good Tripod that can be used with a slider?

Basically im looking for something that will produce better results then my cheapo Velbon tripod. Obviously fluid head, that wont freeze in the cold. For the legs, they have to be able to have a slider mounted on them. If anyone can help me out let me know. Also what would be a good slider? Sorry for the multiple questions, and lack of details but this post is sort of rushed. Let me know if there anything else that would help you come up with a answer.

Budget? Konova sliders and other brands of roller bearing sliders are pretty much the best (as far as dslr use, ovbiously a bigger $1000 one will be better), but the $100 ish dry lin sliders pretty decent for the money. There's lots of videos on youtube about them, i'd recommend it if you're on a tight budget. What camera will you be using on it?

Yea a konova k3 or k5 would be really good, only downside to them is their customer support sucks. But there really isn't much competition in the same price range.

As for a tripod a manfratto 701 with 055xprob legs would be a good option, I have had it for a year it was relatively cheap and has not froze up and has been very durable. I have not put a slider on mine but i am farely confident that it would hold.

If you have a lil more money something like a satchler fsb4 would be the next step.

I second this. I have the 190xprob (just a little bit shorter, pretty much the same) and I've had it for roughly 2 years and its held up fine. I have a fancier 717 head but its pretty much a chinese copy of the 701. I've put my slider (and my t2i with heavy lens) and even my small 4ft jib on it. The 190/055s are really good sticks.

190s suck IMO. I wouldnt say they are similar to the 055s either. They are taller, beefier, and use snaps instead of those stupid twists. Defiantly go with 055/501 or 055/701. If you want to ante up a little more, i hear the sachtler ace is absolutely great. But back to the slider question, i have an 80cm konova k2. The k2 is a new model. It is 1 less bearing than the k3. Basically identical. With heavy camera setups, you may want to go with the k3/k5, but for my needs, the k2 works flawlessly. Its also only $220, which is very cheap for a non-friction based slider these days.

I think they both use the same type of snap locking. But yeah why not get the 055, if its stronger and bigger, and only a bit more expensive. Wow, I wish I had known about this konovoa k2 for only $220 when I got my slider. $220 for roller bearings. Damn.
